Yamaha introduces their newest and most affordable electric violin at the NAMM show. We at Fiddlershop were very impressed with both what we saw and heard.
Introducing the four string YEV104 and five string YEV105. These instruments are the most affordable electric violins that Yamaha has to offer. Despite the price, the YEV104 and YEV105 appear of same high quality that Yamaha is well known for. Their sleek modern design is in my opinion, a step above the rest. These beautiful instruments come in 2 simple and well thought out color combinations, available as a 4 or 5 string option. Unlike Yamaha’s other electric violins, these instruments are built primarily with wood. The body is made of maple, mahogany and spruce and the Walnut frame is the icing on the cake.
A huge bonus is the instruments weight, weighing in at only 550 grams which is similar to a traditional acoustical violin.
In order to keep the price down, Yamaha kept this instrument simple without the fancy onboard or belt clip preamp. Despite this, the YEV105 and 105 are equipped with the same high quality pick up as the SV-130, SV-150 and the SV-250 minus the body pick-up. This setup allows you to get the same high quality signal as any Yamaha electric violin depending on your own personal audio processing options. Also, a great move on Yamaha’s part was installing a 1/4″ jack for a better connection.
I was happy to be one of the first people ever to see the new elegant Yamaha violins which are sure to be Yamaha’s best selling electric violin ever. Fiddlershop will be one of the first shops to carry the instrument and you can preorder Yamaha electric violin at any time. The first release of these instruments are sure to sell out quickly.
