OfflineOk, i gotta say, i think all of us could add an instrument to this if we wanted to. for the main project it might be best to stay to FIDDLERMAN'S VISION of just violins and violas.
I plan on adding a post with a band with stand up bass, mando, guitar and violin. But, for the purpose of the project, my vote is for violins and violas only. (even though
it was my idea to begin with).
OfflineI'm brand-new to this site and to the fiddle (but not to music, been playing that all my life).
I *love* this idea of pulling people together from all over and making music! I've been fiddling for less than a week but I'm going to attempt Part 5 and see what happens. I have a few more weeks, so why not??

You play the bass?Let's take it to a vote. I originally wanted to use exclusively fiddles and violas but I love having a base line.
Bass line, by all means. If you're going to allow a washboard and chickens, then anything goes when the whistle blows!

OfflineI've been having so much fun practicing for this project. Part one has really been a challenge for me, particularly the double stops in the last section. I started practicing slowly with the metronome, and I've been gradually speeding it up. I've got it pretty solid at 92 beats per minute. Just ran it through once with the click track and it didn't completely fall apart, lol.
I think I can, I think I can…

Ok everyone. My first vid. I figured if I am making a vid…might as well be a question vid about Cabbage. So here ya go. Laugh, enjoy, just don't hurt my little feelings! lol
I assume that it starts on measure 13 of violin 4. The rhythym is a 8th note followed by 16th notes. so the first note the 8th, is longer than the 16ths. not much but noticeably. daa diddle diddle diddle then daa diddle diddle diddle etc. So if you consider the capital letters to be a longer note than the lowercase notes your bowing should be Dududud Udududu. Now lets see if I am right. I think I am, thats how I am playing it anyways.

OfflineI especially like picklefish's explanation "daa diddle diddle diddle daa diddle diddle diddle"
Great advice from everyone.
Great start Clint
)))
Make sure that you have in mind to use a little more elbow movement when doing the 16th notes to be relaxed in your wrist and not use so much shoulder. You can get pain from doing so.
I know I was too fast, I was going off memory and not using the click track. It was faster than what I usually practice, but if I slow it down and play with the track, is that what is should sound like?
Or was it too fast to tell if I was hitting the notes?
And also… I can't do Vibrato yet, will that hurt me for the vid?
