Just be honest and post subjects to help everybody get on their way to the wonderful world of violin;-) I'm sorry for being negative about Balsa wood violins gStretch, but I have played a couple acoustic balsa wood guitars back in 2006 and it sounded like I was playing a toy. They were half graphite too for structure and the band ZZ Top will tell you that they were the most horrible sounding guitars ever created.

I'm not affiliated with this site and told Fiddlerman to keep me out of the contests so I'm not here to win a violin but to share as much as i can to help us all become better musicians.

So I can't tell you what the numbers are like for winning the next fiddle. ;-)

The Fiddlerman Familydancing Yeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!

MGN - you are 100% allowed to be negative about balsa wood violins. But to be completely honest that violin did not look or sound very nice. Top that with the likelihood that it will probably not last very long and you get less incentive to follow up on it.

I do however like that there are people that are willing to experiment. Have any of you ever tried a composite violin? Carbon fiber violin

One of my first posts here was about being at LA Center Studios and our famous actors' (Kevin Bacon) brother was playing a carbon fiber cello...It sounded great!
