Trying to raise money for my son to get a laptop for college. This has been a tough year for us and Im unable to work right now because of a medical issue. Pierre suggested a "go fund me" campaign.

Pierre and the Fiddlershop made a direct donation of $130 (before the go fund me).  You are an amazing person sir !!  Im grateful beyond words brother !!

Thought I'd share a little bit about Cory. He has always been a well mannered great kid, not just saying that because he is my son. He decided in 5th grade he wanted to be a programmer. Of course, I thought we'll see as you know how kids change their minds, I know i did as a kid.

But Cory stayed the course and never changed his mind. During a high school science fair, while other kids were gluing things on cardboard, Cory created a video game called "Boredom Deleted" , needless to say the other kids liked his display.

Cory joined the international baccalaureate in his freshman year of high school . The workloads he took on were incredible. Many nights he would stay up well past midnight working on school work and get up at 5 AM.
He wrote such a great essay in his Junior year that they had him coach the Junior class in his Senior year, then decided it was a good idea to have him talk to the freshman's as well before he was gone. Its funny, as even in elementary school he would go read to the younger classes.

As you can see by his picture he was well adorned at graduation, he is even missing a couple ropes as we couldnt afford them, but he was cool with that.

The computer we are trying to raise money for is for his programming classes. A 6 gig harddrive is the minimum he needs. With me unable to work right now we cant afford it and college will start in August, this is why I started this, as a friend suggested.

So to those that have already donated and those that will..a huge heartfelt thank you.

This boy is one of the good ones, please help make his dream's come true
thanks

I love to hear you talk about Cory.

Proud papa and what a good son.  Will he be going away for college or staying in town?

I'm happy to see you doing what you can to get Cory what he needs to be successful in life Barry. I think that these situations and how we handle them help mold our kids into what they become in the future. Many parents just let their children fend for themselves and unfortunately, it doesn't always work out. Hope you can get him a powerful computer that will satisfy his needs in college and maybe even the beginning of his future career.
I believe it looks like you guys will meet the goal. I have my fingers crossed in any case.

You don't need to lower the goal IMO. I bet the extra money could go towards other important costs. You probably had to give up some things that you didn't want to at your yard sale.
How is your back now?

Back is better today, Im sure it was mostly from moving heavy things at the yardsale (which with an umbilical hernia I guess I shouldnt be doing anyways)

As for lowering it, yes, youre right, I sold things I'd of rather kept, but also, Im asking people to donate their money to help me achieve a cause, and that goal is the main thing.

I dont want to take any more then what I need
