Hi, all,

I'm having trouble locating posts that I'm looking for, e.g., I don't remember where Robyn post her video"over the rainbow". i did the search, but no luck.

Is it possible that we could organize this forum topics -- e.g., have everybody post how they play under a certain topic such as "how do i play? or "please critique"

It's at the "New Pieces Added to Sheet Music" or something like that…and I totally agree. It's starting to get confusing, don't you think?

The topic titles could be more discrete.  Without that, everybody dives for the Breakroom.

And I notice that topics may be changed in the middle of a thread, i.e. "off topic" and that can cause a lot of confusion regardless of the filing system.

I would like to see a topic "Videos" for member produced videos, NOT YouTube!  There seem to be more and more "progress reports" via home videos.  Good thing.

I'm open for suggestions. I can add FORUMS or change the titles as well.
I agree with you guys and often have trouble finding things myself as well. The off-topic problem occurs in every forum that I've ever been on.frown Maybe it should be my job to organize.

The search function works but you need to make sure that you select, "All Forums" also if you know a little better what you are searching for you can select, "Match All Words" instead of "Any Word"

As Oliver suggested, a members video section would be great and I know I'd use it. Also Genre sections would be nice.  Irish, scottish, english, cape breton styles  under one section, Bluegrass, old time and country another, rock another ,Classical another, you get the picture.

Also a "share a lesson" section would be cool where members could share tunes/pieces.

This forum is going to grow and has the potential to become one of the top 5 violin/fiddle forums I believe. The time to organize is now. The mistake Ive seen some of the leading sites make is discrimination.  Classical, fiddlers and rockers all share the same problems as we play the same instrument.  Ive seen fiddle sites put down classical players and Classical sites snub fiddlers.

Thanks to all of you for getting involved and special thanks to Barry for the concrete suggestions that have led to my new forums as well as one new section for Genres. NOW, let's fill them out.

Also, if you have a specific forum that you want to have moved, please brief me on that as well.

Thanks

I totally agree with all of you. I understand what Fiddlerman must be going through to keep this forum going as it grows. I had a free guitar lessons forum (mid 90s to 2009) that was totally shut down by me do to so many reasons that I could not control on my own.

Nobody was willing to help me…They all just wanted the free stuff. I was going to re-launch my site but it will take some time because of people not willing to help anyone but themselves.

Fiddlerman has a "Donate" button. If you have any extra change in your heart, maybe you should think about that.

My 2 cents of thought ;-)

I went to another violin forum that one turn me off because there were thousands and thousands of posts and I got dizzy and never went back:(

Here's another idea, don't know any one would like it, especially the fiddlerman:)

The idea is as follows:

Why not make it like yahoo mail or gmail or hotmail everybody has an account e.g., oliver, Daniel, barry, robyn, etc., and then under each member's name,  could have the topics that they started, yet, there are still the main topic, i.e., The instrument with subtitle -- violin, violin for sale, etc.  I personally think this will at least help the person who made the post to locate his/her own post easier and it also helps to locate other members' posts.

I do like the idea of having a topic "video" specifically for those who like to share achievement of their progress, asking for critiques, etc.

It actually works like that pky…there's a button in the menu that pops up when I access your profile that does exactly that.

There's your profile ;)
