No idea RP,

Do you have a good microphone you could use with an audio interface?
Are you completely against getting an inexpensive webcam like the one that Chinny got? It would be cool to get a little video while your at it.

What I have been recording with is the mic on my Logitech headset.

A pickup hopefully would allow me to block my bird which loves to kick into high gear when I'm making any kind of noise.

I guess I can consider a webcam. You would still be able to hear the bird, and the placement for video recording sounds like I will have the same problem I am having now with the camera I have. The one you linked to sounds great for sound, but it says it does badly in low light.

I got The Sharper Image 1623201 Camcorder, U-Shoot USB 1637546 as a gift a while back, but I can't find anywhere to put it to record myself that would be the least bit helpful yet. It does not have good sound and you need a lot more light then I usually have available to get a decent picture.

I WILL have a video up sometime soon with this though. I just can't guarantee the results. lol

On "Cheap eBay violins" … Just tell people they are like a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree.  With a little love, and some practice, they too can be made beautiful.

What you say makes sense about blocking out external sounds. I owned a  Audio alone will be great as well. It's your choice.exactly

I had a Barcus Barry transducer about 20 years ago and loved it. It gave a very warm dark sound. Not exactly the sound that was heard when playing acoustically but a very pleasant sound non the less.
