How do you guys like the new chat window on the right? I put it up yesterday after Daniel suggested it.

Does this window have anything to do with the funny "chirp" I hear once in awhile?

Yes Oliver, you can turn it off if you want. At the bottom of all the chats you'll see an audio text. Just press on that and the sound will turn off. The chirp tells you that someone just wrote something on chat.

OK.  Did that.  I need a clue on how the CHAT works?
I would assume that only members can CHAT ?
How do I know if there is somebody to chat with?

Har,har,har!

However, bear in mind that there is rumor of a serious fiddle/guitar crisis.  This is that informal jams might bring in 4 or 5 guitars and only one fiddle so maybe the fiddler ranks a head start if threatened out in the woods wink  (Sounds right to me.)

I like that one Barry. I'll remember it if I encounter a furious bear.devil-violin

I could easily limit the chat window to members but figured that I would leave it open for everyone for now. If this becomes any problem I will change it.

It seems that killing the AUDIO (bird) in CHAT does work but reappears whenever rebooted(?)

If my wife catches on to these funny noises she'll want to crank Parental Controls all the way up like I been up to no good!

Can the AUDIO be put to rest (permanently) or should I just mute the computer?

I can change it so that when you reboot or reload the page it will be on silent mode. The default now is presently set for audio on. The only problem is that if you chat with someone they have no way of knowing unless they look over to the right to check.

Everyone else let me know what you want the default to be and I will do what the majority wants. For now I'll change it to default off and you can manually turn it on every time you load fiddlerman.com.

I'm cool with it either way, but I agree if some people are disturbed by the sound it's fine to be defaulted off.  I know where it is, and I can turn the sound on.

Can I make another request for the site?  Would it be possible to have your local time on the page, so I and many others in different time zones can see exactly where we are in comparison?

Thanks, and BTW, I love how this site is evolving.

If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

You know, that works 2 ways but you are in the clear because you have a location.

Not everybody does so when I'm up at 1 am and an "unidentified" member is on, I really wonder where they might be.

I'll look into the possibility of local time. Each person would see when the post was made their time. Don't know if it is possible. Great idea though. Will get back to you on that one. Remind me if I forget :-) Still in Montana.

I installed a completely different chat widget. Please let me know if you guys like it more. Also, I believe that this will solve the database errors that we have been getting.

Do you do your own coding or html? Also the games and learning applets you have, did you create those as well? Just curious.

I used to do my own html but on this site it's WordPress. I have made other sites where I only used html, then discovered Dreamweaver which made life easier and lastly discovered WordPress which puts you in a great big community of users who contribute Themes, plug-ins and widgets.

As far as the games are concerned, I worked together with a programer.
