Hmmmm. Good questions. I guess I have a few so here goes.

I plan on having more personal time with family and friends. Life is passing by fast and I'm tired of spending it working.

Would love to increase my playing knowledge by 1000% this year. Maybe more. A neat goal would be to be able to play Christmas songs for family this year.

Would really love to get the 5 or so home remodeling projects finished this year. Yeah like that's gonna happen.

And last but not least. Planning on learning more about politics and getting involved with trying to put a congress and president in office that cares about America and balancing the government checkbook instead of taking care of the entitlement crowd. I know politics is a sore spot with most, but I'm learning it controls just about everything we do from purchasing a lightbulb, installing a toilet to what are kids are taught in school.

I really have never made resolutions before, but this year I decided there were a few things I should seriosly consider.

First and foremost is quit smoking. Started when I joined the military and always said I would quit when I retired, well I retired in 2007 and still have not quit.

Second, I want to get into better shape and gain about 20lbs.

Third, Set aside 30 minutes a day to play ( the violin that is )

I find that new years resolutions are good things to think about, but why lie to your self?  LOL, I mean really who ever keeps a new years resolution?  Have any of us had successful new years resolutions?  How many tries did it take to keep it?  Are resolutions serious or just a conversations starter..  this could be a long drawn out topic!!!  LOL

Dressage? Did you mention that before, Kevin? I am currently without a horse but have Dressage enthusiast friends who let me ride their horses sometimes. No other discipline is more beautiful than Dressage, IMHO.

Quite a few of us smokers here on FM. Quitting is one of my goals this year, too. I also plan to use up my Stash of materials, get rid of some clutter, start a business and play the fiddle every day that I eat, to paraphrase Suzuki.

I never do any new years resolutions, just too much pressure for me. It is a good time to think about goals though. For sure I want to and need to quit smoking this year (cigarettes that is ;-). I already quit drinking as I got my first DUI this last summer and that was no fun. I want to complete a CD of original songs this year with me playing all the instruments including violin and vocals.

MGN, I don't want to take advantage of your kindness but maybe you would be willing to make a back up track for us all to work on the upcoming "Red Wing" Fiddle project. ???????

@BCShalom, you can look at resolutions as goals instead if it feels better. That is what I do. My goals for this year are.....

Sure I can make a backing track no problem. First I need to know what the Red Wing project is. I'll search around the forum for it. FM I noticed on another thread that you use Peak. I recently upgraded to Peak 7. It's a great easy to use program.

Cat, nothing is more rewarding to me than dancing with my horse.  Last summer I had the opertunity to ride a high level dressage horse.  No one knew how to ride ride him so I got on and did some pessage and piroettes with him. It was the greatest time I had in a long time.

Thanks MGN,

I love Peak and will probably purchase the same upgrade. I haven't had much use for it but now a days with all the videos, it would be great to enhance the audio. I used to use it a lot but got away from it for a while. My favorite mixing program is MUTO's Digital Performer

If you would do that, a lot of us would be super grateful :-)

Sounds like a great goal. I wish you luck with that.
