I retired my music stand today.  I made it out of the cardboard that my first violin arrived in.  It has been used and improved everyday and retiring it feels like losing a friend.

This is what the area looks like now.

Cool !

Wish my work area was even half-as-tidy as yours !

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

I see that I am not the only one who tends to use the sofa as just another table top.

I am also prone to crafty solutions for things like that, but in this case, I just bought a music stand, so I could stand and play in an area of my dinning room, that is now half music room.

I do like your music stand solution though. My first music stand was the top of one of my computers (I have three computer workstations - not including my lap, for the laptop PC) here in the living room. That play area was not ideal though. It was too cramped. I have more elbow room in the dining area, and better lighting.

I have too many computers to make a music area in my living area, and now music may be taking over my dining area. I may have to learn to eat standing up.   ;)

LOL, MACJR, The sofa is the perfect table top. Especially for instruments. Nice and padded.

@MrYikes I am sorry to hear that your are retiring your stand and that it feels like loosing an old friend.  Maybe recycle a bit of it for another use...bookmarker or print and frame a picture.  I hope you get a new stand and have another new friend with new memories.

Cheers.
