Hello:

Is anyone familiar with this piece?  Etude by Paganini.  It is in my Mel Bay First Lessons book.

I could not find any recordings on YOU Tube.  My book came with a cd.  I believe I loaned it out.  It is track #43

Curious to see if anyone is playing it or has a reference to a recording.  I mean we all want to play something Paganini right?  (Just kidding)

Cheers,

Toni

I don't know if I am allowed to post it here.

Who summons me from my slumber ???  Ah, it is you coolpinkone.   I think maybe the "easy" Paganini etudes you seek are those that were written by Franz Liszt as a tribute of sorts to me ,but written for Piano.

Here is a link about my caprices and if you click on the tab, some free samples.

http://www.paganinitechnique.c.....About.html

As for their level of difficulty, it is expressed here :

and last but no least, a link to the Liszt etudes :

Practice well my dear, it is time for me to return to where I came

Slumber well dear P.Ghost.

I actually have this "Etude" copy in the Mel Bay book of this Etude.  I will work it out and play it for you, in your honor. I hope to make you proud.

Thank you for the links, you are a kind kind soul from the dark side.   :)

ha ha.. coolpinkone one giggles at the Ghost of Paganini.

Well apparently Mel Bay  (book producer)  is writing music... and putting it in a current book.. and selling it.. and the title of the song is ETUDE by Paganini.  How is that for ruffling your feathers.

Don't haunt me... take it up with Mr. Mel Bay.

hmm...I never knew that Paganini composed an etude, though his caprices are kind of etude-y :) ....I've never seen or read a composition of his that is entitled with "etude", can you take a picture of the sheet(even for just the first few notes)?

cheers! - ⁰ℨ

First, its Nikolai, not Niccola, leading me to believe that these are from Nikolai Petrov, which are themes on Paganini, hence why its labeled " Nikolai Paganini"

oh  oh @cdennyb you had to see me looking stupid.  :)

So now... do I want to  play that piece.  I can say the draw is not near as strong.

Do you happen to have a cd called first lesson. Audio.. track 43?  that is the song I am wanting to hear.  Now I will only play it if it suits my fancy. :)

hahaha!! first look at the picture and I think I recognise that piece.....played it, yup it is it!! Paganini's 9th caprice!! I've played the original one before, but this one is simplified, it should have double stops, it's to imitate horns and flutes I believe.

Regardless of who wrote it, it appears to be primarily a fingering exercise for the A string.  Therefore, it can't be a bad thing to practice.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. ~Herm Albright

.... batts eyelashes (wink) at Oz.... wonders if he could post me a lil sample? But you are off at college now? Maybe you don't have recording options?  Anyone else want to play it for me.  (batts eyes...)  :)

I know I know.. play it myself.  I am off to give it a go.  I haven't even attempted yet.
