Hi All
This is my attempt at 'Danny Boy' at 11 months since starting playing
It gets a bit 'odd' in places.
I may post it again at 12 months to see how much it changes
BTW.... Its in C Major and I learn by 'ear'
Feedback greatly appreciated. The more the better
Seen it all. Done it all. Can't remember most of ..... What was I saying????

Great job, Ferret! Here's my humble critique:
PRO:
- Your bow stroke looks nice and long in the appropriate places.
- Your intonation mostly sounds good.
- I detected some nice inflections such as hammer-ons and pull-offs.
- Your wrist flexibility looks good to me, at least compare to mine.
CON:
- A few notes were cut short (as Pierre pointed out) and, as a result, the whole song feels a bit rushed.
- I saw a bit of bow drift.
- There were just a couple of spots where the intonation was off.
Overall, the pros outweigh the cons!! And the cons are very easy to fix!! Great job!

thanks for that Diane
It probably sounded a bit rushed because I was in a hurry to get it over and done with. I hate video cameras

Pierre said- The screechy sound comes from having a crooked bow with too little pressure closer to the bridge.
So what is the fix and will that also cure the drifting?
I think if you played into the strings more that combined with slow bowing practice where you focus on keeping that one point of contact will do the trick. It seems to me that there just isnt any real pressure from mid point to the tip. That gravity only bit of pressure combined with the wrist not quite moving enough at the right time is what allows the bow to be moved sideways accross the strings. This causes string slippage. Happens to me and is very frustrating sound wise. Slow bowing using the whole half and quarter bowing lengths for the note values rather than using a metronome has allowed me to make great improvements over a very short period of time.
thats just my opinion- what does everyone else think or do to work on this problem specifically since it surely affects everyone?
(I think the critiques are great and all but if no solution is offered for the issues what is a guy to do? I wish the more experienced players would add at the bottom a specific, heres what you do to fix it comment. I know I would appreciate it. Sometimes it can be too vague for my brain to clue into. lol.)
