My third week of studying violin...I was going to wait until I received my new strings and bow from fiddlerman before I posted a video, but I decided to just go ahead and post this, so we can see if it sounds any better later when I get the strings/bow.

Great job! Looking forward to more once you get your new gear. cheerleader

A tip from a fellow newbie: Try using more of the bow! I'm speaking from experience here, as I played like that too not so long ago: the more you wait to use longer bow strokes, the harder it will be to break the old short-bowing habit. As someone told me back then:

Don't do this violin-student, but this violin_girl !

I agree...nice job!

Since this is critique corner, I'll echo Alma that more bow would make it better. I'm also still a noob (10 months) but that's what my teacher has been hammering home to me, so it's something that I'm on the lookout for.

Intonation sounds good at the beginning, but goes a little awry toward the end.

Again, I'm only mentioning these things because you asked.

I think you're doing very well! -- Diane

When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

Scotty, I'm impressed. BRAVO!!!
The intonation of two notes bother me. Can you hear which ones I'm referring to? I could tell you which ones but that wouldn't be any fun ;-)

Your posture and hold is great. Are you taking lessons?

Thanks for the post. Keep up the great work.

Thanks all. I will work on longer bowing.

fiddlerman: I took 1 lesson so far. Are you talking about the notes at the bad ending?

Yes, mainly your playing a C# instead of a C natural. Your second finger should be against your first on the A string for the C.

Also your third finger G on the D string is too high at the end.

Alright I have been practicing that song, I will try again and post tomorrow.

BTW I got my pro arte strings and bow today. I think it is a major improvement in sound. It doesn't sound so bright now. I like it. Hopefully they will be broke in a little more by tomorrow evening.

Man, the second video was a great improvement on the first. I'm impressed.

Don't be scared t of he bow. Lay into it. It's a good bow, use its full length.

For such a short time you are doing great. You are better than I was at week three thumbs-up

Seen it all. Done it all. Can't remember most of dunno ..... What was I saying???? facepalm
