Hi everybody, here is my recording of Southwind. This month I started to practice some fiddle songs for the first time after playing only classical music. And I LOVE it! I'm sure I will soon record other fiddle tunes. This one is a slow one because the other ones that I'm practicing are still too fast for me to play along with the piano recording. But I'll get there soon. smile

I'm really looking forward to your feedback!! Oh yes, I did my first vibrato on some notes...laugh for now only with the third finger. The other fingers don't know vibrato yet facepalm

Enjoying my violin adventure! :-)

Great job! I like your vibrato :) I have yet to try it in a song, only with scales, myself :)

I'll save giving input for the people who have been playing longer than I have, but I really enjoyed it! Fiddle songs are so much fun to play :)

Very nice! In my inexpert opinion, I thought your vibrato sounded pretty good, too.

Well done, @Marikoli

A waltz is  beautiful addition to an Irish session, and you played Southwind very nicely. It made me want to get up and dance!

Great job Marikoli,

Try to keep your right elbow a bit higher so not to have that bow hand wrist bent so much, especially at the frog and lower strings.
When you get that ponticello sound check where you are making contact on the strings. It's usually because you are too close to the bridge. :)

Look forward to the next video. Hope you get a lot of subscribers.

Thanks so much @Fiddlerman for taking the time to watch my recording and comment!! :-)

My right wrist does look weird indeed... different than other violin players I've seen. I had noticed it before when watching my recordings but didn't know what to do about it... So, I should keep my right elbow higher! That's great advice and I'll start with it today! Thanks very much!

Enjoying my violin adventure! :-)

Yes but not all the time. Your right elbow can lead and raise as you are approaching the frog then drop and pull you towards the tip. When you play on the lower strings it should be higher and lower on the higher strings. :)

I know this is a older thread, but I liked this and wanted to comment. Take a listen.
