really liking this  thumbs-up  My only suggestion is that you hold your notes longer at the end of each phrase instead of stopping abruptly. I understand youre trying to mimic the lyrics, but youre not singing, so let the violin sing  wink

There is no shame in playing twinkle, youre playing Mozart

Great job, Kelly! I agree with the comments above.

I liked the karaoke version better because in the first version it seemed like you were listening and waiting for the lyrics, so you were a split second behind. The karaoke version seemed more natural.

I think that lengthening your notes, as Barry suggested, will make all the difference for you on this piece. You're almost there!

thumbs-up

Showing improvement, Kelly, but I do agree with Barry's comment's about holding the note's.

Hold the notes long enough to lead into the next verse without the long pause. You may even want to improvise a couple notes after the hold.

I played along with the song also and found it much smoother by holding your notes.

Doing well, though.

I also think I would prefer longer notes at the ends of the phrases.  I think you should try it that way, but express it the way you like.

I like the sound of your bowing.

I think the biggest gain would be from improving your intonation.  One way to do that would be to play a D major scale (D E F# G A B C# D) slowly into your tuner about a million times, trying for a green light on every note, giving extreme attention to the pitches and your finger positions.  If you can't manage a million times, maybe try it ten times or so per practice session, alternating playing the song and playing the scale.

Good job overall.

Have you memorized it, or are you reading?  I'm guessing that you are taking baby steps in ear playing.

Thank you all.... I will try that tonight and try to re-record this weekend. I ws playing around with another old song trying to get some stuff on the soundcloud ROFL. I never thought about trying to improvise a bit on the long areas.... hmmmmmmm something to play with!!!!!!

@RosinedUp I am actually reading it.... I can't play music by ear.

Can you memorize a piece after having played it many times? That makes a big difference in ones performance. :)

Look forward to hearing your next version or piece.violin_girl
