• Please begin by telling us anything you would like to about yourself. Age, place of birth, residence, etc.
I'm an old happy man.  I have one great wife (tried two but they couldn't get along), two terrific kids and a great career that I've bled & sweated for 20 years to build.  I was born in the Oakland Navy hospital in 1955 and have lived several places; childhood on a farm in Upstate NY; West Palm Beach, FL; & all over Southern CA, and have finally come to rest on a 5 acre piece of heaven in rural North San Diego County.

• What made you decide to play the violin?

I have been dying to play the violin for the past 20 - 30 yrs of my life, but just never had the time to commit to it; too busy with family and work, but the bug has always been there, just gnawing at me.  Until one day last December, I happened upon a video clip of Annie Staninec & Luke Abbott and was mesmerized.  That same day I started researching violins, and after two weeks of research, I bought my first one, a Scott Cao SV-017.  I was so… READ MORE>>>

Great interview, George....oop's, Fred, you're a pretty talented person and I'm really jealous of your new found collection of violin's. I really admire them.

Hahaaa, great write-up bro, good to see what makes you click ( no, not your finger joints after years of fighting).
Will be great to come over and try some of these instruments of yours!

I was born with nothing,
and to my surprise I still have most of it left!

Neat story and indeed, a good violin is a big part of successful playing.

Have we heard the violin on a video yet ?  violin-1267

roflol Harry Potter joke!

Fred: I'm drooling inwardly over your Matthias Albani. Please, can we see it in action? (Not that a microphone and computer speakers will ever do justice to its sound!)

Ken, I am laughing my goddamn ass off!!!  Did you read somewhere in another thread that I get mistaken for GW about 3-4 times/wk?

You've gotta make it Terry, I just told Pierre this morning that you were going to make it!

Thank you Naska; yes, I will have to sell most of them after I work on them,,, and I will definitely post my site so you can check them out; but NO, I won't be selling the Albani in my lifetime.

Oliver, I will make a point of doing a few recordings over the next few weeks; you know that I can't do them justice, but I gotta work with what I got, lol.

Thank you Keven, man, you were the one who nudged me just enough to go out and do it; thank you.

Haaaaa, I know Pierre, what am I going to do with them if I don't sell some of them; my wife will seriously kick my ass if my bedroom starts getting filled with old-smelling violins!

Alma, I will definitely record it; that that I can do it justice; I can't wait to hear FM play it when he comes out in a few months.

Thank you Diane, I dearly appreciate that.

Thank you all for taking the time to read my interview,,, kind of embarrassing, but if everyone else can share, I can, lol.
