Great. I look forward to doing it. I haven't recorded anything before. This may bring out the "ham" in me, if you know what I mean.

Fantastic HDuaneaz :-)
We need the "ham". Also, I am hoping as many of you as possible will decorate and or dress up a little Christmas like.....
However, I'd rather you all participate than to refrain because you don't feel like doing the Christmas thing so please don't use that as an excuse.

I'm glad that a little faster tempo was chosen.  The 60 bpm was unnaturally slow for me.   If I play that tune without a metronome or click track the 10 to 15 bpm is what usually comes out.

I'm trying a different camera this time Fiddlerman so hopefully it will be easier for you to mix.  I'm practicing both Violin 1 parts.

Any tips on getting a better sound in the higher positions?  I noticed that I got a better sound with less bow pressure.

It's off topic but I'll mention it anyway.  I'm kinda jazzed because I'm playing a few tunes at my church for a Christmas program in a few weeks, about the same time as the deadline for the Silent Night Recordings.  There's sort of a country theme to it this year and I'm playing the fiddle part for this tune.....  We are also doing the same artists version of I saw the light.  I'm playing the fiddle for that too.  Practicing by myself is ok.  But playing with the band is lot's of fun.

Try right clicking them and opening in a new tab or page.  That's what I have to do.

Opportunity is often missed because it wears suspenders and looks like hard work.

Hi everybody, I'd like to join you for first time. But I'm not sure about tuning. 440 or 442?

I think he really should because my teacher (she plays in one of our best orchestras) says that now everybody uses 442... I hadn't known that until the last class. We wanted to play Bach double concerto together, but it didn't match at all. And she told me she was at 442. The difference is soooooo big!

LOL,
Yes, at least 442. Some orchestras are as high as 444 but usually 443. :-)
We'll give a tuning note on the click-track.

Hi all ... just returned home from my trip and found this new project ... cool!

It's a very simple tune, so hopefully I'll be able to do justice to it, like the rest of you.  I was checking out the mp3 files, and then read the comments about being too slow, so I'm assuming the tracks have been changed to reflect the new speed, because I was going to comment that it's perfect to me!

Ok, to start practising!  I am also hoping to get in on Jesse's Christmas project, so the next few days will be madly practising (when I get time to myself).  I'm hoping that circumstances will allow me to get up to speed in enough time.  I am suffering from a tropical infection in my foot, and can't stand for long, and I can never play sitting down.

Just want to say thanks Pierre for putting another project together for us!

@Fiddlerman :

Pierre, can you check the sheet music for violin 1 and violin 1=8va against the new click track please.

The sheets as written, and the sound samples don't seem to match with it?

Haven't checked the other parts yet.

Thank you smile

Thanks Pierre,

I've just listened to it, am I right in assuming the parts are repeated 3 times in all?

LOL, you're welcome. Currently the click track is in a lower key/octave.

You guys passed the test ;-)

Sorry,

I used a template from another click track from,"Garage Band" which switched the pitch because I never set the correct key signature in Finale (midi and playback section) when I made the sheet music.

When I created the click track everything was perfect but then just before saving the file I changed the key to C not even considering to check if the file was the same as what I had just listened to.

After posting the file to the site I heard that it was wrong so I repaired the file but the cache was remembering the original file and I couldn't use my FTP because of WordPress permissions to just swap the file and use the same address and name. :-(
Long story short, if you hear the wrong one now, please clear your cache and reload and it should all be fine. If this is not the case, please let me know ASAP

I don't have one but lets start recording as soon as possible. Let's say the 16th.
Thanks
