Seems like he use very little rosin, is it how he get all the sound effects from an acoustic violin? Notice how many times he touched his bow hair-- on purpose, to make it sound rough?

A little history about the story so you know why Li was sawing like that:
(pardon the English, it was translated from Chinese to English by Google, and I tried my best to edit it.)

House of Flying Daggers, as the name suggests, is all over the widespread meaning of the ambush, the performance of an irreversible military posture.
This story from the Battle of Chu and Han contention Gaixia.

In October 202 BC, HW Liu Bang rate this Part troops, Xiang Yu was forced to retreat to Pengcheng.  Liu Bang caught up with  Xiang Yu in South Yang Xia,  ordered a halt to the chase, sent a messenger to contact with Han Xin, Peng Yue and promised them in the future they would divide the world, and promised them of land in Linzi, girders, Huainan.  Sure enough, the messengers returned with messages that the princes would soon send troops to help him defeat Xiang Yu.

Soon Han sent from the south three hundred thousand troops attacked Xiang Yu, cut off the retreat of Xiang Yu to Pengcheng ; Peng Yue led tens of thousands of troops and horses to reach solid Mausoleum of Liu Bang joined forces as the main; Liu Jia and Liu Ying cloth led their troops from the north, cut off Xiang Yu's southward path.  Xiang Yu troops continue to shrink, retreat to now Anhui fell into the trap of Han's "House of Flying Daggers".  Princes' army  surrounded Xiang Yu army.

Han, set the plan of attack, "House of Flying Daggers", shaped like Skynet tempting to catch Xiang Yu like a bird. At the moment, Xiang Yu army counter-attack like a crushed worm; the Liu Bang's army reported news of success. The fight and slaughter began in the battlefield, and this is the famous battle of Gaixia.

In order to further destabilize and collapse of the Chu night, Liu Han surrounded sang songs from Chu. Chu's army heard the song and and their emotion of missing their hometown was escalated. Xiang Yu was shocked, saying: "Han have switched too Chu now? How come there are so many Chu people!" Xiang Yu could not sleep, late at night; he drank while singing.  Xiang Yu see the hopeless situation, with eight hundred cavalry to break through the night and fled south.  The next morning, Liu Bang found that Xiang Yu break away.  He sent Guan Ying who led 5,000 cavalry to chase even catch up.

Xiang Yu crossed the Huaihe River, and continue to follow his cavalry only a hundred people.Xiang Yu to Yin Ling (this Anhui the Dingyuan four North), lost his way, stuck in lakes areas. Xiang Yu led his troops, battle and retreat, retreat into the Wujiang River (now County, Anhui Northeast Wujiang Pu), only had twenty-eight soldiers left. He gave up his horse and ordered his soldiers to get off their horses and fought with short, light weight sword. Just Xiang Yu himself killed hundreds of Han's troop.

Any way, Xiang Yu ended up killing himself with his own sword.
