Hello every one, I am Gkeese, but to those who I am getting to know, you may call me Clint.  Ha! Bet y'all thought the G in Gkeese was my first name didn't you?  Yea, you know you did, lol.

Anyways... I found this site while I was looking up a review on a violin.  I watched the vid, followed the link to YouTube...watched another vid, liked Fiddlerman on FaceBook then followed the link to this site and BAM! here I am on Fiddlerman.com making friends, learning the violin and ignoring my wife and kids because I am obsessed! (Ok, maybe I shouldn't admit that part.  But that is what my wife says, lol!)

I keep getting off subject... (hapens to me a lot, get use to it!)

I have always loved the sound of a Piano with a violin, but I do not htink I have the ability to play the piano.  (Piano was my first instrument choice, but when i moved my keyboard flew off the trailer and exploded on the Interstate...BooHoo to me!)  So after losing my musical desire for a few years, I was YouTube-ing (I do that a lot) and ran across an artist by the name of David Garrett...he played such an amazing version of Beethovens 5th (my personal fav) and got me hooked on the music I love so much once again!  (Yea for me!)  SO now i am hooked.  I am awaiting the arrival of my first Violin, -hint hint @ my wife- so that I can begin as soon as possible.

A little personal info...I am male, 31 years old, I have 5 kids, 5 dogs and 20 Chickens.  Of my 5 dogs only one is actually mine!  My dog is a 2 year old Rottweiller named Tater!  He is awesome and the biggest Teddy Bear you will ever know!  I support groups that raise awareness for Rottweilers becaue they are not the \"vicious\" dogs everyone, including the media, make them out to be.  They are great family pets...just bog and clumsy.  Anyways...(see off subject again, geesh, I gotta learn to watch that), I am a full-time student right now looking to earn my Degree in Education.  My long term goal is to be a History Professor teaching the ARTS from a Historical point of view and less of an \"ARTsie-Fartsie\" point of view.  (My daughter's words, not mine, lol.)  I want people to be aware of where we came from, from an artistic point of view and not a technological point of view.

Anyways...that is enough about me.  I look forward to learning to play one of the greatest instruments ever right here on Fiddlerman.com and also with the help of my college professors.

Welcome Clint,

I'm real happy that you stumbled upon Fiddlerman.com on that review. I do apologize to your wife though. One solution for neglecting your wife and kids is to involve them in your hobby. Encourage them to begin as well and then you guys have a group hobby. They can play different instruments if they don't like the violin as much as you do and you guys can potentially jam, form a band or group.... Sky's the limit.

Hey Clint! Happy to see you here and not only on the chatbox :D You will love this community it's the best.

I like your approach to history, I remember taking classes in greek and roman art and medieval  stained glass and illumination (enluminure?) as complement for my archaeology specialized degree.

That's a lot of dogs! I bet Cesar is very popular in your home! Tell us how they react to your violin hehe, some try to sing along, we have a contest not too long ago about that.happypug

Hello Clint, Welcome.

Yeah, I am obsessed too! Im also a student.  And so far, not married yet, but already neglected my books and assignment.  If my GPA drop this semester, I'll blame FM.  Seriously.

I admit I'm obsessed as well. Started the same way. There's no hope...you're infected like the rest of us and the only way out is to play. lol.

Thanks everyone.  I really appreciate it.  Noir, i do enjoyt he forums, but I am still learning how to navigate them.  FM...thanks for the words.  Also, FM, my 10 year old daughter is starting violin in the fall when school starts back.  Her and I will both be taking classes, her at school, me at colelge.  But I have already had her looking over your website too.  We are looking really forward to learning to play.

I am really impressed with the number of people who popped up just to welcome me.  It is really cool of everyone.  Sorry i didn't call ya out by name, but again...too many cool people to remember, lol.  I look forward to posting vids of my progress.  That is a nod to you Noir.  I love watching you progress through your vids...very inspiring and I would like to follow in your footsteps.

To Pierre, thank you so much for giving us all a place where we can all "geek out" together.  It was really hard finding any useful information or collegues who share my passion.  YouTube was great for vids, but not for atmosphere in a non "troll" zone.  So I just want to say, THANK YOU, for giving us this great experience.  And I look forward to fun and learning.

Also, I just realized something...never post after a 14 hours shift.  My spelling is horrible!!  Next time?  I rest before I post.

You are very welcome and it's real cool that your 10 year old daughter will be learning the violin too now.
Good luck with that too smile

Thanks Pierre!  I finally talked my daughter out of getting a pink VSO.  She wanted a pink violin so bad, I was afraid to tell her it wasn't going to happen.  But then we sat down and talked with her (future) violin instructor and she told her all about the rentals the school offers.  Now she has decided she wants the rental from the school, because it will sound so much better.  (I dodged a bullet on that confrontation, lol)

I look forward to learning the violin with my daughter.  As I have stated before, after I get my violin, (Faters Day reeeaaallllyy needs to hurry!!!) I am going to make vids of my progress.  Hopefully I can talk my daughter into making "special guest" appearences. (Unless she gets so much better than me that I get embarrassed, in which case, I will make the vids hers, not mine, lol.)

We both look forward to learning, and she looks forward to beating me! (Yes, we have a little competion going, lol)

Good for you gkeese,

I know a lot of adult women that want pink violins too. They don't necessarily grow out of it. LOL
