Hello everyone,
I'm a 31 year old dude living in Florida with scraps of free time and a love of classical music. I've always had melodies floating in my head and can't stop whistling throughout the day for as long as I can remember, sometimes classical - sometimes music from a video game - any way you slice it I've been working towards achieving perfect pitch this entire time, and in a soprano key to boot!
So several weeks ago I made a conscious decision to take up violin as a hobby to promote personal and spiritual growth and spend my time more constructively than I currently manage to do. In my searches for finding a starting instrument I happened across some of Fiddlerman's videos and ultimately this website.
I'm very glad I did. The sense of community here is cheerful and strong and I can't wait to share some of my new experiences with you all as we continue to grow.
Long story short, my violin is due to arrive tomorrow (naturally while I'm at work) and I can't wait to dig in. I've been making lesson plans for myself to work on and can't wait to start achieving some starting goals in the coming weeks.
TL:DR - Thanks for having me

Welcome to the world of - "What was I thinking"
I know I can speak for most here when I say, start slow and methodical. Work on form, tone and finger placement. Most of all, have loads of fun when you practice and play. This is a great place to learn and share your experience and advancement in the instrument. Do join in when you can. I know we all look forward to peoples progression regardless of the level of play.

Hello Tyberius! Slow and methodical is my middle name Seriously though, I've got mirrors set up to work on my posture and form, plenty of learning materials and more importantly some wonderful and supportive roommates to help me along my way (not that I didn't already buy myself an Artino practice mute for the less pleasant parts of the journey). I'm ready to dedicate myself to the craft.

Howdy Mind Trick and welcome aboard, your new violin has probably arrived and I'm sure you're already starting the journey! Exciting when your waiting for a new 'piece of the family' isn't it . Just remember, there WILL be times when you may get frustrated and we'll be here to ease that tension. I'm sure the folks in the shout box all run when I log in after a more trying session as they've been a bit frequent lately lol. Have fun and talk soon!
