Hello, Everyone! I'm Jols - originally from Manila, Philippines but moved to Atlanta, GA about 3 years ago. I played a little bit of piano and guitar growing up, but I never played an instrument that I could really awesomely play. Recently, I decided it's about time I did! I've thought about learning the violin since I was young, but at the time it was too expensive to buy a violin.
So for my 32nd birthday, I bought myself an affordable student violin, and enrolled with a local teacher. 3 lessons so far, and I am loving every second I spend practicing!
I've been going over online resources to supplement my violin education, and Fiddlerman usually comes up in my Google searches. Helpful stuff so far, so I thought, why not join this forum :)?
I hope to learn so much more here, and meet new friends in the process. I also saw some of the Group Projects y'all have done over the years. I can't wait to join in on the next one
My neighbors probably want to strangle me for all the noise I've been making. But hey, "no pain, no gain" right? Except, they feel the pain and I get the gain (I'm really sorry, neighbors :-S)

Welcome - you have come to the right place !!!
Enjoy your journey with the violin - and yep - the group projects, or just the individually started "parties" where we just submit our pieces - are - well - simply awesome... Great forum, you will not be disappointed, I'm sure...

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -
Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

Welcome Jols,
I'm new here too. I've owned a viola for 9yrs but haven't done much with it. I did at first, but didn't last long.
Now, at 37yrs old, I'm going to see about picking it up again and see where it takes me.
Good luck to you. Have fun.
