Hello everybody,

I'm so glad I found this website, so cool to be part of an enthusiastic violin community! As a kid I learned to play the clarinet, and I really enjoyed it. Then the clarinet went in the case for about 10 years. Then I started missing the music and also I was watching all these great videos from Lindsey Stirling and 2 Cellos! And I just so much wanted to start learning to play the violin!

So, 5 months ago at the age of 30 I got my first violin!!! :-) And I'm learning a lot with videos on Youtube and forums like this one. When I got my violin, I couldn't even imagine I would like it this much!! Every day I'm looking forward to play the violin and learn something new!! I love the sound of the violin, I love the violin journey!

And I'm very grateful to be part of this community! Hope to learn a lot and maybe encourage others as well!

Enjoying my violin adventure! :-)

Welcome to the board :) This is a great, helpful group of people on here.

Playing and learning does get addictive, doesn't it? I know my practice sessions always end up going longer than I had planned, lol.

@damfino that is so true!! Playing the violin is really addictive!! I agree about the practice sessions ending up longer than planned. Once I get started practicing I don't want it to ever end ;-)

Yes! Sometimes when I'm tired after work, I think I'll just go practice for 15 minutes, do some scales to fine tune my fingering, or just run through a couple bars of a song that I need to do better at, and before I know it the time has flown by :) I love it.

Do you think you will try taking lessons at some point? I've only been playing 3 months, and originally planned on self teaching, and just happened to be out by a music shop the week I got my violin and found myself signing up for lessons, lol. Then I told myself I would only take them for a month to get started, and then turned into I'll stop before winter... now I'm hoping the winter will be a mild one so I won't have to quit, lol. See... addictive, lol.

@Marikoli ,

Welcome to the forum. Like you, I also played clarinet years ago. We didn't have orchestra in my middle or high school, and clarinet was the closest band instrument I could get to a violin. It has been fun learning violin as an adult, and it sounds like you are enjoying it as well!

Welcome Marikoli,
Great having you here. Thanks for your enthusiastic post. I enjoyed reading it. I love hearing that learning and playing the violin is addictive. Professional violinists often loose sight of that.
Look forward to getting to know you better on the forum!

Oh yes, playing the violin seems to be more addictive every day! I play at least an hour a day and I am soooo happy that some days I have more time. I just can't stop thinking about the violin all day!! And I completely loose track of time when I start playing. clockviolin_girl

Enjoying my violin adventure! :-)
