Howdy from Texas. I've been playing guitar for about 25 years and along the way picked up the bass, piano, drums, and mandolin. I've been wanting to learn the violin for the longest time too, but kept putting it off. By chance I found fiddlerman's video review on youtube for the Cecilio electric violin and was pretty impressed. So I decided to order myself one for xmas and finally start. I think this site will be a HUGE help in learning. I've been reading the forum and checking out some of the lessons and I'm really looking forward to it.

Welcome to the neighborhood. I have been told that I choose one of the harder instruments to learn to play, as the violin is my first instrument, but this place has been a great help already.

If everyone in the world played the violin, there would be no war!  I am convinced of it.

When was the last time a crazed group of violinist stormed a Police Station or staged a coup?  I say get everyone to play the fiddle and know Peace!!  duncecap

Glad your joining our peaceful movement Johnny.

Hey BC dont forget about the fighting fiddlers of Findish

They fiddled and fought

And they fueded alot

Till all five of them fell

In an old dried up well

For two days and one night

They kept up the fight

Then they sat down and fiddled

A tune that was so sweet

That old well started cryin

And down at their feet

The water began risin and it didnt take long

They floated to the top on that current so strong

It was then they decided that from that very day on

No fighting just fiddleing till their days are all gone.

done

Wow ... so that's the secret to world peace?  I never knew that.  On the other hand, I'm sure my neighbours would start an all-out demonstration if they were all home when I was practising.

Peace to you too brother!

exactly

If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

Late Bloomer, ah you make my point very well!  LOL.

Yes, fiddling is the secret to world peace, I was a Marine and I would like to forget all the death and destruction, the fiddle helps and if all Soldiers, Sailors and Airman were given fiddles, we could solve all disputes the kindest possible way!  With a symphony, or a ho down, or sitting and fiddling till the sun goes down, and turning on the lights and fiddling some more!

Ah, what a world that would be.

The only problem with fiddling is that there is a lot of "violins" involved.

violins = violence

Good thing it's not a cult, or else we'd be worried about all the Sects and Violins in here...

Good thinking Daniel. I didn't see the connection at first. The conversation went in all directions and then you added this little twist.
