I started self-teaching myself violin this past March. Then I found some teaching sites on line. I originally wanted to fiddle, but it looked to hard. So I decided to learn the classical basics first and have been working on that. Then someone introduced me to this site and I think it's wonderful. I'm anxious to also start learning how to fiddle.

I also play piano, guitar, French horn, Native American flute, and dulcimer.

I've been happily married for 39 years, have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. Originally from Michigan and Ohio, but have lived in southern Florida for 30 years. I also am an author, quilter, herbologist, and whatever else I decide to try!

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone here.

Thanks for this site.

I'm anxious to also start learning how to fiddle. The hardest transistion point is going to be playing double stops ie two strings at once and moving fingers whilst double stopping. Also the bowings can be tricky. Its definately doable but takes quite a while for me at least.

I also play piano, guitar, French horn, Native American flute, and dulcimer. Holy Cow! maybe fiddle will come easy for you then. I am struggling with piano and guitar in addition to violin/ fiddle.

I live in east central florida and will be visiting south florida next summer. I work as a Locksmith.

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone here. Nice to meet you. Rob.

Thanks for this site.

Hi and welcome, Susan.

You were invited here by one of the best fiddler's on this site. Thank's Barry.

I'm sure you are going to enjoy your time with all of us.

I live in Davisburg, Michigan, it's about half way between Detroit and Flint, straight up I-75.

hey Susan... welcome aboard... it only gets better... there's another member here, Daniel (MadBadDaniel) who also plays the dulcimer... it was in the previous project video if you care to get a glimpse of him playing it.

I admire someone who plays so many instruments. Maybe you can play a few tracks with different instruments and overlay the violin to it as well and make a whole band sound...lol

enjoy the stay and enjoy your play. cheers

Rob:  Where are you in east central Florida?  And yes, you're right, being married 39 years nowadays is an accomplishment, plus hard work, but only with God's help.  Thanks for the comments.  Nice meeting you, too.

Barry:  Yes, I think how we met will be an inside joke between us for a long time. I'll check out that site. And thanks so much for all your help.

Fiddlestix:  I was born in Jackson, MI, raised in Monroe, lived in Marquette for 4 years and also lived in Toledo for awhile.  Nice to see another Michigander on here.

cdennyb:  Thanks. It's nice to meet you. The only problem with playing so many instruments, it's hard to find time to practice them all!!!!

We used to ski jump on Wolf Lake near Jackson and we used to fly to Jackson County airport for breakfast on Sunday morning's. In fact, that's where I met Ted Nugent on a Sunday morning, eating breakfast.

correct, I went to culinary school in West Palm Beach about 20 years ago so I is familiar with your area in the southlands there. We used to drive to coconut grove in Miami to hang on the weekends. Little havana was also a cool place, back when I was a hip strong coffee and cuban food afficianado. Anyways, I expect to be in the Keys for about 4 days next summer, campin and snorklin there at john pennekamp and thought Id stop by on the way down and up for lunch and fiddlin. jimi-hendrix

Welcome Susan, to the Funny Farm, good luck playing.
I'm also going the classical way with a quick nip and tuck to the Fiddle side now and again.

It's a great bunch of people here to learn from and with!

I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....
