I started self-teaching myself violin this past March. Then I found some teaching sites on line. I originally wanted to fiddle, but it looked to hard. So I decided to learn the classical basics first and have been working on that. Then someone introduced me to this site and I think it's wonderful. I'm anxious to also start learning how to fiddle.The hardest transistion point is going to be playing double stops ie two strings at once and moving fingers whilst double stopping. Also the bowings can be tricky. Its definately doable but takes quite a while for me at least.

 

I also play piano, guitar, French horn, Native American flute, and dulcimer. Holy Cow! maybe fiddle will come easy for you then. I am struggling with piano and guitar in addition to violin/ fiddle.

 

I've been happily married for 39 years, have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. Originally from Michigan and Ohio, but have lived in southern Florida for 30 years. I also am an author, quilter, herbologist, and whatever else I decide to try! Holy Moly Cow! Congrats on 39 years and raising kids in this day and age! I live in east central florida and will be visiting south florida next summer. I work as a Locksmith.

correct, I went to culinary school in West Palm Beach about 20 years ago so I is familiar with your area in the southlands there. We used to drive to coconut grove in Miami to hang on the weekends. Little havana was also a cool place, back when I was a hip strong coffee and cuban food afficianado. Anyways, I expect to be in the Keys for about 4 days next summer, campin and snorklin there at john pennekamp and thought Id stop by on the way down and up for lunch and fiddlin.
