Hi All

Could anyone help identifying this tune.

For some stupid reason I'm having trouble with this very simple tune. If it was named I could probably find a recording of it and hear what its supposed to sound like. Teacher is expecting it to be under control by Friday AU time :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

John

Hey John, sounds kinda like "Go Tell Aunt Rhody" to me.  This version is off a bit from the tune I remember, but pretty close.  That's my guess.

If your teacher wants you to learn it why don't you just ask him/her what the song is?

Maybe he doesn't want to fess up to not being fluent enough reading music to nail the tune without hearing it? I am hopeless that way. I can do the ta-ta-ti-ti-ta, I can finger the notes on the violin, but getting the two to come together properly without an example? No way!duncecap

To tell ya the truth, John... I don't think it's a song, I think it's just note's for a exercise. I think if it was a actual song, he would have put the title down.

Did he tell you it was a song you should know ?  Is it a quiz for you, like name this tune, or just play the note's as written?

I played it about 15 time's and it doesn't ring a bell for me.  Sorry.  dunno

I can read it. Can play it. But I'm not sure I have it right. I did ask but she said that she couldn't remember its name. I think she uses it often as an exercise for students.

I do know what you mean by " but getting the two to come together properly"serenade

I clicked my own link and find that it doesn't take me to the right place.  To identify a questioned melody and hear a midi file of it, go to http://www.melodyhound.com and input your melody using the keyboard search.  The search engine will then bring up several possibilities.   The best fit was Cajun Two-Step.
