It's Friday, and I just finished my 40minutes of practice.  Having owned a electric violin for just over two weeks, I'm still working in the basics...  first few finger notes, open strings, and simple things like Mary had a little lamb...   Stuck with it so far, even after a long week.

Tons of violin songs out there, so found one that motivated me for today.   This was it...

Beautiful songs!

Hey that plucking song is awesome.  I will try that at the jam I attend - someday.  I have plucked out notes on open strings at jam.  I am just beginning to get the plucking on the fingered notes.

My addition - Bryson Andres - Pasay Philippines - Born 1991 https://www.youtube.com/watch?.....zkJYLqylzs

Violinist start date -  May 2013

Fiddler start date - May 2014

FIDDLE- Gift from a dear friend. A 1930-40 german copy, of a french copy of a Stradivarius.  BOW - $50 carbon fiber. Strings - Dominants with E Pirastro Gold string.

So it's Tuesday, and the violin may not be the predominant instrument in this tune... but it was my motivation for today....

Yup...  that was him.    I loved the facial expressions and how they were just having fun.   I saw Alison Kraus and Union Station play it live one time...  such a beautiful song.

Todays Friday song for me was one of these two...

My Friday motivation was this guy...

Not that it was the best version of the song I've ever heard (though I do like his "straight" parts of the song)... But he's having such a great time playing.

And that sound.. It reminded me that it has been a while since I set up a mic into the mixing board so I could put on headphones and hear myself play on acoustic violin, but with some seriously big and majestic reverb and a bit of eq.  I love my gear.  With that setup, I can close my eyes and play and forget I'm standing in the kitchen.. I'm off in a big mostly dark auditorium or concert hall somewhere.  LOL  With any acoustic instrument, it is one of the best things in the world.

He also reminded me that I haven't played "Summertime" in a while, and it is a great song.

So I had 2 or 3 hours of very enjoyable extra play time on Friday night, and that video was the motivation that got me going on it.

OMG, I love that version.

I have it ripped to a MP3 and use it lately to play with. I am strongly in the motions to learn this and on my 5 string it will be easy and difficult at the same time.

Here's some written sheet I found that is pretty close to that version.

I love that version of it myself...

Can't go wrong with this as well...

All of which is way beyond my current skills, but I keep at it... and keep having fun.

Man - I have missed a lot of posts as well recently - THAT WORKS for me...  cool !

Great thread, thanks go to the OP @Taper123

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

@Schaick

I have to agree about that being quite the motivation. Juan Fiddler is awesome.

Poking around Youtube to find some motivation.. as if House of the Rising Sun is not enough... :)
