I'll just give you the short answer.  If you want the long answer, we can do that later.  The difference between major and minor scales is where the location of the whole steps and half steps are located in the scale.  In this particular instance A minor shares all of the same notes as C major.  C Major is C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C.  A minor has exactly the same notes, but starts on A.  So the notes for A minor are A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A.    I hope that helps.

If you google Circle of Fifths you will find a diagram of that name which is a very helpful music theory tool.  I recommend finding that and keeping a copy around for instances such as this one.

OK.  In addition, to what I said before.  There are actually three different minor scales.  The Natural Minor, which is the one I explained.  The Harmonic Minor and the Melodic Minor.  They are 3 completely different scales.  If the music is in A minor, without any other words, it means it's Natural minor.  That scale is A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A.  Most likely that's the one your after.

Hi Grofica , LTNS hope things are going good for you.

I believe the song is 'Sounds of Silence' by Paul Simon

You might try this fingering

g)1133 d)110 g)00022 d)00 g)3

to start out with, aqnd tell me what you think.

Have fun.

With violins there is no fretting over the music.

I got a ways to go.... when i first printed it I didnt even think about the key difference between the origional and the remake.... so I had to go onto one of those music sheet sites and i lowered the key.... so now im starting from scratch....

plus i might have been a little bad and didnt practice for maybe a couple of months or so.... (cough cough looks around innocently) work has been crazy and I am going to get married (31 october 2017) but I am back at the violin... ((again)) I missed it...

Speaking of keys, I need to work on those.

I just noticed that I was playing A Major wrong. D and G Majors wrong too.

I think somewhere along the line I blurred them together and forgot to keep track of the Keys after that.

My focus as been on fingering and bowing, but I better start paying more attention to key signatures as well.
