Hey guys. I've been playing violin for eight years. I took lessons for five and a half. Unfortunately I never learned how shifting was written in sheet music. Is that what the

"1______,2______,3______"

is that is under the music? I'm working on a piece, and I want to get everything perfect instead of ignoring bow directions, slurs, and the "2_______"s that are under the staff.

Thanks for the help! Glad to be a member of fiddlerman's forum! 😀

To note shifting on sheet music simply write the finger that corresponds to the note and position you are shifting to. For example, if I wanted you to play in 3rd position with a D on the A string I would write a 1 over the note.
