All right boys, being an individual with an exceptional sense of justice, I will be the judge of who and whether anybody did anything awful on the thread.

PF, I think you did a service by finding a good explanation and bringing it to the forum.  But unless I am wrong, you didn't at first indicate that the explanation originated elsewhere.  That is kind of unscholarly, and can cause confusion.  Witness the recent Stage Fright thread https://fiddlerman.com/forum/b.....t-article/ wherein you similarly pasted an article without crediting the source, and both FM and member Annon seem to have mistaken it to be original to you.  It appears that you added the reference into your OP on this thread after Barry complained.

Barry seems to have felt slighted as one of our resident viola experts and got a little sarcastic or ironic when making his point about copying and pasting.

I think everybody got to say what they wanted in the controversy, and I consider the exchange and my analysis to be healthy.

Go then and sin no more, and don't forget that my birthday is coming up soon.

Actually, with the stage fright article, Pf did mention the source, but it was in the topic description.  I remember because I was writing a paragraph congratulating him on having written a good article when I noticed it.

I don't think anybody's pet is really peeved, but it is good to credit source, particularly when making a lengthy quote.  We just want to know where the quote ends and the Pf begins.

"This young wine may have a lot of tannins now, but in 5 or 10 years it is going to be spectacular, despite the fact that right now it tastes like crude oil. You know this is how it is supposed to taste at this stage of development." ~ Itzhak Perlman

This is causing me some difficulty but I'm praying about it.

PF, you must have posted that while I was composing my post.  My attempt at religiously-themed humor in my post is not a reference to this one of yours, which I saw only after I posted at 12:17, so please don't think I was mocking you that way.
