It occurs to me that I should be plotting some course after the 2000 post bench mark. Until now my efforts have been mostly recreational with a good dose of learning along the way.
But something else happened at about this same time. That is my involvement with the musicians at my church who just happen to be super.
They have heard me play and made a "line in the sand" ...... an ultimatum of sorts. I could try to join in the mix or "get lost". Forget all the excuses. I've seen and played some of their music. On my radar screen OK, but no slack.
So what about 2000 posts ? I see it and other plateaus as a possible Graduation day. The change now is from recreational playing to commitment of periodically performing in public and doing that at the "next level" ("next level" means that every arrangement is written in at least 3 keys and one of them is Ab.)
I guess commitment takes other forms such as community orchestra but in any case, these kind of exposures, I believe, result in significant progress.
I suspect that my new adventure will cut into my forum time but I will watch to see who else is winning the posting wars!
When you come to a fork in the road, take it.
