Yes sir!  I'm a member of the largest Civil War artillery division in the Midwest!  We have 5 full scale cannons, including one original from 1856!

I just added my "cross-cannons" to my kepi shortly after that picture was take! laugh

Great pics EJ!!!  Not to get too sidetracked from the topic of "violin", I use Lightroom a LOT, and I've de-saturated various colors in a pic but I don't know how to only saturate a single item in a pic v. saturating only a certain color.  In PS, I think it's done using masking right,,, which I also use, just not very well; I use Lightroom to manipulate a photo and I use PS to make layered images.  Do you know of a good, simple, inexpensive tutorial on how to do what you did your two pics???

Btw, have you ever been to the fort on Lake Ontario at Oswego?  Some great canons (which have been thoroughly molested btw by SUNY Oswego college students,,, unfortunately I can't exclude myself from that lot) facing the port; very cool setting.  I'll bet you have a ball with the reenactments.

Naska – no vid of your performance!?!? dunno; wanted to see it!  I'm sure you did much better than you're leading on.

You can just mask off what you don't want desaturated or copy to another layer and erase all you don't want set the first layer to black and white then flatten the image.

Thanks Kevin, I know it sounds simple, I think I probably need to find a vid to understand exactly what you're talking about; I'm sure it's easy, I just don't know what steps to take.  I appreciate your help though.

The method I use is actually much simpler in my opinion.  I just set the Art History Brush tool, desaturate the entire picture, then bring back the parts I want in color.  You can also use the color selector tool ("magic wand"), select the color you want to keep, go to options and choose "select inverse" and then desaturate.  Both ways are pretty effective.  I personally prefer the first one because I can knock out a good picture in a matter of minutes! blink

Aww Naska – that wasn't so bad! Although I can imagine it was probably the longest five minutes of your life.blink

I love the Chattanooga Choo-Choo boogie you worked in there.dancinbunny

Now you and Jim just need to work on a duet.

NASKA!  You are adorable!!!  Such a nice job on Chattanooga Choochoo; you looked like you were starting to have fun, you loosened up, it sounded great!

I'm sure it was so hard though, especially if your performance was in front of people who didn't know you.  Thank you so much for sharing that!banana

Naska, you probably think only of your mistakes, but I hope to play as well, and as courageously on a stage alone, some day. Thanks for sharing! cheerleader

Love your striped pants hats_off you looked uncomfortable with the 2 first tunes, probably stressed hehe, I could not do a recital no way, too shy for that, so congrats  on your courage! With the last song you looked like you were enjoying yourself though! I love how flexible your fingers are, something I will have to work on, you are a good exemple of how it should be heart

Not bad at all. You have things to work on but that is natural. This is all a learning experience. I remember you telling us how hard it was to perform the first time. Just work up the courage to do it more often and it will pay off. I like that you were moving on the Chattanooga Choo choo.

AWESOME Naska!!!  Great job!!

I noticed that every time I looked up or out at the people, I choked!  I actually had to look down or away to start a song in order to remain calm and not have any more brain-farts! LOL

You did a VERY good job with all eyes on you!!
