I split things into two "studios", analog and digital. Analog is in the corner of the kitchen and often rather resembles your "before". Digital is just a couple computers on a very small computer stand and a midi controller keyboard, so it fits in the corner of a small room upstairs that is used largely for storage.
So far though, violin/fiddle hasn't done anything but slightly increase my collection of gear. LOL
