vibaviattigala said i wonder whether to play

Practice practice practice the piece.

Then play it for friends and family on as many occasions as you can.

Keep improving your performance.

Then you will be more able to answer your question, probably with a "yes".

I would say do it, but a bad experience can actually turn you off the instrument as well. Maybe you should wait till you feel like you are ready.

True, 2000 is a lot of people.

And people may tend to compliment a player more than they deserve.  Try arranging to play for some people, then engage a spy to ask those people what they really think.

An audience of 2000 is a real problem but not only the 2000.

There are certainly a lot of people in that audience who are/were outstanding musicians and might be just be your worse critics (even if silent about it).  How savvy is the 2000?

Will you be playing solo in front of all these people ? Or playing along with a group ? What type/genre or level of  music (easy, intermediate, difficult) are you expected to play ? Or can you pick anything and play it ? If so then pick something that you know well and that you know you can handle. Practice performing it in front of family, friends, etc.

Like I tell my riding students, go into the event thinking of it as a learning experience. If you do well then that is great. If you don't do well it's great too because know you know what it's like and where you need work.
