@ Dave ... that's awful !!!

@ Daniel ... you might have to sing it so somebody recognises it.

dunno

If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

I can always add a guitar part if we're going to spread out into vocals and what not ;-)

Mixing those two songs together sounds a little too busy to me but I'm still game to do this for sure.

Hey Oliver,

We are all voting on a Christmas song based on Fiddlerman's list in this thread then the one most voted on will be picked. Fiddlerman will then make it in to a 4 part harmony or what ever. We will video tape our part and he will mix a Youtube video of us all playing the song.

OK, time to choose.
Everyone please choose your favorite only from the below 8 choices.
I even added Angels we have heard for Daniel :-)
By Monday we'll have a winner and I'll start writing some parts.
@ Oliver, LOL, fly everyone over here…

  • What Child Is This & Carol of the Bells combined
  • What Child Is This
  • Carol of the Bells
  • Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
  • God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
  • Jingle Bells
  • We Wish You a Merry Christmas
  • Angels We Have Heard on High

My vote would be for the combination of both what child is this and carol of the bells. I have never heard them played together but it sounds good in my head. I'm sure fiddlerman will have a good arrangment. I new so I will need to follow the lead form the more experience players.

My choice is also What Child Is This & Carol of the Bells combined. Sounds like a lot of fun! I've never played either song so it will be an adventure. Plenty of time to practice. Now to see if I can get a better sound than my cheap webcam can do...

I have the same audio problem, to compound it there are no audio inputs on my digital movie cam.   frown

I do have a video recorder that has better sound, but I need someone willing to film me while I play and so far I haven't been able to get the dogs to do it smile

You guys, don't sweat it like that ;-)

Fiddlerman said that he was going to write out the arrangements (and please Pierre write out the up and down bow strokes with the finger number and what string patterns like you do on the beginner sheet music that you write;-) You can then use the free Metronome that's on this site and just plug in some headphones on your computer and adjust his metronome to the right speed that he puts on the sheet music. And just use your video camera mic. It will sound fine ...

One trick I have for recording lead guitar is playing my part twice and when I'm a little off on matching the beat, it sounds a little thicker (sometimes better). If we're all a little off on timing, no big deal. Let's have fun with it.

One thing though Fiddlerman. You should put out a plan and instructions on the best way we should all do this.

You got it. First sheet-music with lot's of details.

Then a practice recording with a click track to play along with.

How many of you have a digital player of some sort that you can use with ear-phones or head-phones? Can also use your computer with some sort of head-phone.

For those of you who do not have a video camera I can use the audio and a few pictures would be nice. It's going to be very interesting to mix this.

We are a way from that right now but fortunately we have plenty of time before Christmas.

I've got an MP3 player with headphones. I'm debating recording with the webcam and Zoom H2 at the same time and then synching them together to get better sound. Anyone done this? Is it too much of a PITA to bother with?

I guess not Oliver. I figured we would do a bunch of fiddles but I'm open to suggestions. MGN, offered to add guitar chords and I know you play piano and several other instruments as well.

How about we start with my parts with only violins. Everyone here can see it as a learning experience. I'll gladly guide anyone who wants or needs it. We'll start recording when we feel comfortable, maybe a couple of weeks after the release of the sheet-music. I'll start mixing when I get video and audio files from you guys, then we'll listen a little to see if we can enhance it with other instruments.
