so,  I'm still a beginner - I've only been playing for a little over a year, everything is still rough and bleh at times, but I want to be able to play this song by the end of this year. 

but at the beginning of this song, I can't figure out what she's doing.  does anyone know what it's called so I can go look it up?  here's the youtube link to the song

I have the sheet music, so i'll attach just a snippet so you can see how the notes are marked at the beginning..in theory i think i know how it's played, but it's just not clicking yet :/
