Hi forum,

I was trying a set of Evah Pirazzi Gold strings that were labeled as medium tension. I had just got the violin in tune and when I picked it up to play the tail gut broke and send the tail and the bridge flying.  I have a GCV Cremona Kreisler replica violin and I had a titanium tail gut (Product Code: TTGVVA) installed.  The bridge was undamaged but it looks like the strings dug a little deeper grooves in it. Has anyone ever had this happen? I also learned that the EPGs do run on the high tension side regardless of what they are labeled. Disappointing but ok. Live and learn. I switched back to my nylon tail gut and a new set of Zyex strings. Should I send it in to be looked at?

Thanks!

Where did the titanium tail gut come from? Did we sell that to you? Where did it break?

Hi Fiddlerman,

Yes. I did buy the tail gut from Fiddlershop. It broke at the point where the titanium braid meets the connector end.  It does not look like the crimp failed, it looks like the wire broke. TailPieceandtailgut.jpgImage Enlarger

We will replace that for you. I'm so sorry to hear that. It's the first time that I have ever heard of a titanium adjuster breaking. :(

Please send me a PM with your name and address. If you have the orderID it will help me. I tried to find it but we have hundreds of orders with the name Chris and of all the ones that I looked at, none had ordered a titanium tailpiece adjuster.
