We are currently transferring Fiddlerman.com to a new dedicated server which may both cause slower loading speeds and at some point, down time. Also, some of the posts you make on the forum may be lost on the restore. Everything should be back to normal within a few days and hopefully we will have a quicker site as well. Thanks for your patience.
You WOULD be perceived as a "better" violinist IF you announced the Strad BEFORE you played. No one in the audience would want to admit that they could not recognize a superior instrument (regardless of your playing).
I've heard two live Strads in concert and everyone raved about the sound which to me was not totally better than other pro violins I had heard.
There's an old joke about this guy who lucked out at an auction and brought home a Rembrandt and a Stradivarius.. Only to find out that Rembrandt made rather poor fiddles and Stradivarius couldn't paint worth a darn.
