I feel so good tonight after a great jam am learning session from my friend. I made progress. I saw progress ... She saw progress and it was easier!!! And for the first time ever I could follow what I was hearing better than the sheet. Not that I will stop with the site reading... But it was a great night. I learned Snow Deer, Tennesssee Waltz, got help with Ashokan... ( the music I was using does not match up with the song). I some how knew this... She confirmed.. Yay... So happy. She is going to help me with road to Lisdoonvarna.
It was so nice to play and keep up.. And loose my way and find my way. My Swallowtail worked well with a slow pace!!!
Super happy and feeling great about the violin.
Hapoy Dance. I had to share with someone!!

SWEET!!! CP > sounds like you shedded > All that hard work practicing. All the ups and downs. Pay off for all of that is sweet. Jamming can bring the best out in ya, and not having to look at the sheets so much means your fingers know were to go. Happy your Happy > you deserve it > Rock on Baby!!!!

I loved the excitement in your post, @coolpinkone. Really made me smile.
I love it when you find yourself smashing through barriers and seeing real progress. It's moments like those that make all the hard work (and occasional frustration, lol) seem totally worth it.
Keep rockin' it!

Sounds like you had a lot of fun. It always helps to play with others if and when you can. The more experienced the better -- assuming they are tolerant of less advanced musicians -- some are, some aren't. If you can find good people to jam with, it will advance you faster than anything else and of course it's a lot more fun.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. ~Herm Albright
@Uzi so far my violin mentor seems to be okay with me playing slower. This was a time where I actually said, "do you mind if I ask you this ... or that.. " and sometimes she did a little bow demonstration or a double stop demonstration.. It was a great time and I learned a lot.
thanks.
