Regarding chords, I can repost my "further simplified" version again tonight with chords (just the letters above the staff indicating chord changes), if that would help.

Thanks again ... maybe I can take the first note from each bar ... does that sound feasible?

Or maybe I'll take you up on your latest offer, and see if I can manage that one.

OK, here's my further simplified version again, this time with chords. I hope this helps. I'm gonna try the chord thing, too, as a back-up plan for I still can't manage the remaining tricky parts.

Just a couple more days left to practice. BTW, shouldn't you get an extra day given that you're in Australia? The 10th for you is the 9th in the U.S., right?

wink

NOTE: On the D7 and G7 chords, just play the note D or G, respectively.

When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

Thank you, Diane, that's awesome! Maybe I'll practise those chords too now, because my Red Wing is still slow, sad and so not jam-worthy. facepalm Still, though, it's a nice song and a cool project, so this way I could... kill two cakes with one stone and eat them too...? party

I say that if you like the tune, take your time and do it right.  If you are able to play fast enough by the deadline, then great.  If not, then at least you will have a tune you like for your repertoire.

I totally agree with that. Now it's almost the deadline and my violin is still not fast enough to keep up with the track even though it tries so many times (wasn't me though....haha).

So thank you for your advice. At least I've learned a beautiful tune.

My intention is to keep trying with the track and I will get it some day even if it's not ready by the project deadline. It's an excellent learning experience. However, I tumbled across an slower and nice track and like to post it here just in case someone may like it.

Thanks again Diane (now I know your name).

Killing cakes with a stone ... that's about the noise I can make.

Oh, WOW, you're playing it so beautifully. I love your right hand bow, so smooth at bow changing and left hand finger motion is fast. Your intonation is perfect.

So impressive!!! I wish I could play like you someday.

I will keep practicing then.

Thank you for sharing it.

OK, I've sprended my contribution, such as it is. I had hoped to turn in a better performance, but ran out of time for further improvement. I get off to a fairly good start, but just can't keep it up at that pace; I miss some notes in a few places and end on a bit of a sour note.

tongue

And this was my own way simplified version, at that.

I did end up playing with the jam track to make sure I was playing at the right tempo, but I used it in-ear because I couldn't hear it otherwise.

Nonetheless, this was a great "stretch" project for me. Even though I didn't get to the proficiency that I wanted, it definitely helped me learn to play more aggressively and quickly.

I don't think I'll be playing Red Wing again for a little while because I'm a little burned out on it, but when I finally do go back to it, I bet it's going to seem much easier.

Thanks for organizing this, Barry! cheers

Oh, and forgot to say...great job, Naska!! You even threw in some vibrato. Nice!

(I'm not posting my individual video because it's pretty sad compared to yours.)

Awww! Thanks guys! embarassedembarassedembarassed

Anyway, when i post my vids, you can keep in mind, that i always ready for criticism no matter where i post it =) Naska can be criticised everywhere and about everything (exept the mess on the background, lol, it's just because the mess is unfixable droolingrofl), so please, don't be shy to help me if notice something (i notice many of "somethings" in my playing, but it's always better noticeable from the other side)! Dodn't post it in critique corner because it fits here well!

FINALLY thumbs-up

Since there was only 3 participants I made it a collaboration.

I'm a little sad that not more members got involved but am very happy for Barry, Naska and Diane's efforts. Great job guys. Also, I finally figured out how to get more than 2 videos on one picture. It REALLY drags down my computer. Wish I had a more powerful processor for this. Every slight change takes a lot of time and there is no way for me to accurately see if the timing is right to make adjustments. I guess my next investment will have to be a powerful stationary computer to run Final Cut Pro on.

Great job, Barry and Naska! It was fun jamming with you! My twin sister, who joined in on guitar, enjoyed it, too. :) (Only kidding...I don't have a twin sister.)

And nice editing job, once again, Pierre. It's funny the way you positioned my two frames, it looks like I'm standing next to myself in my music room. The door really is to the right of the bookcase/hutch.

Me, either, Rob. I was hoping that there would be more people to cover me up. You can hear some sour notes and squeaks, and they are all mine.

BTW, I think my modifications to the score worked out OK. It seemed to blend with Barry and Naska alright. Guess that's how jamming works.

Just wish it could have been in person!
