That is not easy music and deserves the FM "intermediate" rating +++
but you stayed with it and you chose a tough benchmark.
I like the sound of your violin.

Oh nice! I like the violin/bow hanger thing you have too.

On "Cheap eBay violins" … Just tell people they are like a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree.  With a little love, and some practice, they too can be made beautiful.

That's awesome LB! You're the first one that even acknowledged that I have some guitar tracks here to jam to after FM posted them for us. I guess a lot of violin players are just into classical music but what a great site this will become with all the different styles we are into.

OK LB,

Lot's of nice things. Nice sound and good dotted notes. Also very ambitious of you to choose "In The Hall Of The Mountain King".

The second and sixth bar need to have a much higher E# and E natural. In other words you play the two eighth notes and quarter note a half step lower only each time. E# is actuall the same note as F natural.

Bar 9 you need to start higher. It should actually be played on the D string and not the G. It starts on an F#.

Keep up the great work and thanks for postingcheers

Glad to see people getting themselves uploaded, it helps everybody.

Keep up the good work, and no, it won't get any worse, only better.

I love the sound of your violin! I don't have any advice, you are way beyond my level :)

Way to go LB, how long have you been playing? I can't really be of any use because that level of tune is far beyond my ability (to play the first couple of bars of twinkle twinkle badly)

I didn't know that tune was called that I always called it "the Alton Towers music" because it is used in adverts for a theme park here in the UK called Alton Towers. I Love that tune though and can't wait until I can attempt it!

I am interested in the idea of 'position' as in "fourth position" I have done a little research, does it mean playing a sequence of notes which requires you to start with your first finger where you would normally place the numbered finger? So in forth position on your G string your first finger comes down on D instead of A?

LB!! That's a nice performance! I like the sound of your violin. HMK is a very complicated piece to start with, but you doing good. Pay attention to the intonation, and you will improve soon!

I just started playing that piece, and it needs alot of work.

But I picked up the violin 4 yrs ago. and it has been a slow progress mainly due to not enough time to play.

Scratch that . I ment not enough time to practice, I play around with it quite a bit.

Thank you all for the words of incoragement . And I will breakdown your suggestions FM and get to work on them. Thanks.

Yes. This is what it means to play in different positions. You can keep moving up the fingerboard as well to fifth position and beyond.
