...I wanted to share it somewhere. I recently purchased a new microphone, and to test it out I recorded this song. Turned out better than I would have expected, so I figured why not share it?

Please give me your impressions/suggestions. I'll be recording more videos soon (including violin ones), so if anyone's interested in seeing me play, you can always subscribe to my channel. :)

Really nice.  Great vocals and a really nice song, sort of reminds me of something Crosby Stills and Nash might have done.  The only thing I would suggest is that when you're mixing it down, you might want to bring down the bass on the guitar a bit, it was sort of booming and rattling my speakers. Either that or maybe move the microphone back a bit when recording.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. ~Herm Albright

@Uzi , thank you! I'm still  getting used to the mic, so there's still a lot to learn. The mic was kinda close to me, yes, I'll try moving it back a bit. :D

I didn't notice the bass being an issue but the vocals could've been spread a little further apart as far as volume goes, It tended to sound more like a harmony and not backup singer style. Maybe that's the intent, and if so that's cool.

Now take that track, add some violin accents to it and hit youtube with it for your fans.thumbs-up.

yeah, I wanted it to sound more like a harmony. I thought of adding violin tracks, but I didn't know where exactly they would fit so I decided not to do it. Thanks for the advice! :D

Great job! About the vocal parts, you've resolved it well. I would only point out the mic being too close. It was buzzing a bit on my headphones but it's just a tiny detail.

Keep up the good work!smile

Hmmmmm...   Overall, yes!  I enjoyed that...  I wasn't particularly aware of "overly present" bass (but I tend to have the bass equalisation on the high side anyway, so I kinda know what to expect - and that wasn't far from what "suits me" for that style of music - LOLOLOL)

And out of interest- I'm listening in surround-sound ( ok I know ) - but I don't get any "buzzing"...  mix is good - comment below -

My only comment is that I would have given the vocals a fraction more presence - just my opinion to my ears - they were just marginally "drowned out" by your strings....

But - that's just a comment, and FAR from a criticism... much better vocal to background levels than MANY movies I have started to watch and turned them off because my old ears can't make out what's being said....  so WELL DONE ! It's never easy to get a good take, especially first few times round with new kit - it sounds good to my ears !

Nice work !

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Thanks,@ElisaDalViolin , @KitsapFG and @BillyG  ! I'm still getting used to my mic and haven't finished properly preparing my recroom yet, but when it's all done (and when I'm used to my mic), my recordings wil lbe much better! :)

I love recording stuff, I've been doing so since I was 14 (my first recording might still be somewhere in youtube), and I'll soon get into recording violin. There's a bunch of songs that I'm very excited about recording, and I'll make sure to post them here as soon as I've uploaded.

Once again, thanks! :D
