Here is a video of Anne Akiko Myers..... I noticed what an elaborate shoulder rest she use's.  At least I think it's her shoulder rest and not some type of sound equiptment.

I would have to say, like I've mentioned to a few on the forum... if you can close your eyes and play the music then you truely "feel" it and will play it very well, without sheet music.
