Looks to me like you're right on schedule.  You should be noticing right about now how much more difficult right hand bowing is than left hand fingering, particularly when it comes to sound quality.  Just keep practicing (with a plan and a goal) an you'll keep improving.

Good job for only 4 and a bit months - sounds great. I like the nice clean articulation of the staccato notes - top marks for that. Intonation is also pretty good for the most part. :)

Things I can see that you need to watch are:

1) right hand pinkie is very tense and straight - it needs to be relaxed and curved

2) too much upper arm movement when using the top half of the bow - this is causing your bow to move in a skewed path. For the top half of the bow your upper arm should barely move (other than when you change strings of course); all the bowing movement should come from the elbow joint.

Hi @zdtownse! I am about two months in, so I'm certainly in no position to give you helpful tips on playing!  I will leave that to the more experienced players.

But I think for 4 months in you sound great! I thought the tonal quality was really good, and your note changes were nice and clean. Keep up the good work!

BTW, I am curious about what violin you are playing. Can you share?

Hello:

I enjoyed your playing.  I am impressed, it took me a while to try the Minuet songs.  I need to settle down and play it nice like you do .. timing was good!!

I haven't ever played Minuet 2. You have inspired me.

Nice job.  You need a badge.   @Fiddlerman

Also I am going to look for a video that Fiddlerman made to help me learn that song  He is awesome that way.

Toni

Thank you for the feedback!! I will work on both of these things! I noticed that my bow tends to skew a lot, I just wasn't sure what was causing it, so thanks for helping me drill down to the root cause so I can work on fixing it!
