Yay, I've made it to one year since I first got my violin I put together some clips of my practice and whatnot over the past year, hope I don't hurt your ears too much
At least one of my titles didn't stick when I exported the video out of iMovie, no clue why, but since it took so long to upload I'm not redoing it, lol.
And just for the heck of it, here is my 1 year fiddling video:

Awesome story @damfino - Wish I had done that sort of thing over my own last 2 years in getting to where I am. Your post will be a great inspiration for others. You have great intonation (and yeah I know - we all lose it a bit from time to time - but that's no criticism whatsoever by the way! )
I think it is GREAT that newcomers ( like you and myself ) to the fiddle/violin actually take the time to share their "initial stumblings" - we were all absolute beginners once, and it really DOES let total-newcomers to the instrument see "what it can be like" - and that it is "not actually that BAD" when one's first attempts are "limited by self criticism" - not a problem folks - it is how we grow - we all learn from sharing our learning experiences....
Thank you so much Mandy for sharing that !
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -
Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

Thanks @BillyG I cringe a little bit listening to some of that early stuff, but my awkwardness amuses me so it got me over worrying about sharing that stuff, lol. I hope that it does help people see that starting an instrument as an adult isn't all that scary

I like it , you live in a beautiful location - oh my gosh!
i heard several song I used to practice in elementary school in the first half of the the first video up to star wars so I can relate with you about time spent there. At the end of the video I am noticing a really beautiful vibrato beginning to show itself!

@damfino : So inspiring! Your progress video is wonderful. I don't know if you see it, but it is like at about 3 months, you jump in and pick up the rhythm, accents, and tone, and never look back. Your vibrato is lovely, it sounds so rich. I am a believer that we are never too old to learn, and to learn well. Well done.

@intrepidgirl Thank you To me I feel like I'm still struggling with the accents, I think maybe it's because I get in class and I choke and my teacher keeps reminding me to add them in there, lol. So I just sit there and wonder if I'm really getting them or not, haha.

well, I'd say that is amazing progress. better than I was at 1 year.
You were doing Somewhere over the Rainbow in D, right? That's the key I do it in. Do you do the next part?.... with back and forth crossover with D & A strings. If not, I'm sure you could do it cuz I've seen you do the crossover thing on those other tunes.
