Great idea Barry, and your timing is perfect as I have just learnt Ashokan Farewell and today's lesson was all obout improvisation.

Count me in!

I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....

What a GREAT idea Barry!

I hope to have time to participate in this contest but the least I can do is donate (1) new Slipper shoulder rest, so you have my commitment on that!

The only question I have is, will this contest be tiered, i.e., for 0 - 12 months, 13 months - 24 months, etc.???

Let the games begin!!!!!!!

I'm very happy to do it Barry!  Whatever structure you decide on I know will be equitable and fun for everyone.

From "FiddlerShop.com" we will donate a set of 4/4 medium tension Zyex strings with a silver D.

Thanks for the idea and getting it started Barry. Good luck everyone, and don't be shy. It's not the winning that is important rather the engagement and participation.

Well, the pot is getting pretty rich!

I suggest that the prize donors should get extra votes as judges.

As for the main points:  When is the deadline again?  And it has to be on video?

Damn Barry; you foiled my plan!  I was going to get my fiddling buddies to record for me,,,, haaaaaaaaa, how would you know, lmao,,, well, other than I sound like a beginner and they don't, lol.

Yeah, we gotta see you play it; because remember, showmanship IS part of a performance!  And Terry's already got a leg up with his Ebenezer outfit!

Count me in, I'm just glad there's no gold fiddle involved, the winner would hate to win that.

Barry

You just don't know how depressing watching your video was roflol

There is no way that I'm ready for that yet. But I hope to be up for that kind of thing in the NEAR future. Will follow the project.

Ya know, having a challenge to work towards can often jump start improvement in areas you werent aware of. Sight reading, Bowing, ear training, fingerings all can and will improve. You might surprise yourself. Encouragement! P-fish.

Ha ha, yes, I qualify to submit a recording now.   :)    I'm also working on Diane's Ash Grove project. Hope I don't chicken out at the end--I've never submitted a recording let alone a video----- stage fright, you know.

Barry, I don't think I'm ready for this, a few months ago I would have jumped in with two feet... but Twinkle Twinkle is a about my level, and I'm trying the Ash Grove as a pilot to see if I can practice tone, bowing, posture, left hand positioning without squeezing, neck/chin position, finger pad placement, crossing strings.

I never expected fiddling to be as much of Rubic's Cube of multivariate analysis involving so many cognitive processes and muscular coordination.

I'm following the fun, though, and can't wait for the final contest viewing!
