Is this a "party project" or is it going to be a FM project/video?

I'm definitely in! :) I just got my new e-violin this week and now I'm desperately practising (after 20 years, I quitted playing the violin at the age of 15) and this beautiful theme song is also in my play list. The only problem is that I have never recorded anything and I only have a poor web camera in my laptop...

I think an FM project. But let's call it a group project. :)

I'd love to join in on this one :) (that is, assuming I could manage to keep up as I am a violin newbie, lol)

My neighbors probably want to strangle me for all the noise I've been making.  But hey, "no pain, no gain" right? Except, they feel the pain and I get the gain (I'm really sorry, neighbors :-S)

Any movement? Did they respond either way?

I love this tune and series, would be fun to do a project on it for sure!

Hi all, I have tried to get a response from the folks who put the music score out there, but have no luck.  I have tried a few different routes.  Fiddlerman, any advice, are we stuck or are we able to proceed since they published it with free access already.  Not sure how this works.  I hope as a purely fun and amateur group we may proceed.  I did state that in my info to them.  Let us know if you think we can proceed, thanks!

I also would love to participate. I'm a violist newbie and a posting newbie but will work hard to keep up! This is a fantastic show and song. Please provide info on how to get the sheet music and collaboration details.

Does anyone follow Taylor Davis? She's a wonderful violinist with a nice youtube video of the theme song of GOT which I think is her own arrangement. I wonder if it is available to us to use for the project?  She has many other great videos: Titanic, Last of the Mohecans, etc.

I would simply say that not hearing from them, plus the fact that they shared the sheet music publicly, is good enough.
However, the rights to playing the "Game of Thrones" music and publishing our performance on the internet could be another issue. I don't think it will be that much of a problem since we are not doing it for profit. The worse that can happen is that they request that we remove it.
Let's just go for it!!!

There seems to be a few violin covers by individuals on YouTube.  Don't know if YT would crack down on a group performance though. Doubt it.

The link to the score sheets - the one in the first post in this thread?    I've just followed it OK and downloaded it ( again, LOL ) - maybe was some temporary issue, or I've misunderstood....

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

Ok, it works now!

3 flats, 12/8 time. Its going to be fun!

After looking at the sheet, who is still in? Any cello players? Am i going to have to learn cello just for this?

OK, I see Fiddlerman says go for it, so go for it we will.

As the instigator of this Group Project, I would like to suggest a few things, but feel free to revise/change/improve if you all have better ideas.  Here is what I was thinking:

1. It is March 2nd.  How about we shoot for a date of around April 15 for finished videos?  I would say normally a month or so, but it is Easter break in there somewhere so I would stretch it.

2. @risk: You asked about a syncing track.  I have been practicing with the video on and it works very well I think.  I would just do as we have done in other projects, record it on MP3 and play it in your ear when recording your part. (if this turns out to be onerous we will revise accordingly-Fiddlerman, any thoughts?).

3. @risk:If you want to learn cello, please do! I play cello but am very beginner-ish.  I will however take a stab at a few of the cello parts because that is what makes this sound so good.  I will be challenged only on a few of the phrases, I think.  Any other cellos out there?

4. If there are any problems downloading the score, please let me know and I will scan it in and put it directly on this site for us to use.

I hope this sounds ok.  Again, if anyone thinks of anything else, jump in.  Woo hoo, this will be fun!

My only concern is the amount of flats as it makes it more difficult, maybe the end of april will allow more people to get engaged.

Are you going to make an official GOT project thread @Fiddlerman ?

The last project requested multiple parts from everyone if able, same here?

risk: I think stretching it to end of April is a good idea, allowing more people to take part.  I would say definitely if people are able to do multiple parts it would be great to see all of them.

Now I have to start actually practising this stuff.
