Sorry for not replying, I'm a little behind on my work. Way to busy now a days.:(
I didn't really remove any parts, I just transposed the cello parts that I found. I figured we could use all the parts and this is a violin forum and not a cello forum. Though anyone who wants to play viola, cello or even bass are welcome.

How about the Viola parts? I usually need a long time to figure it out... ;-)

I've been playing with it some every now and then.  I guess I need to get serious, though!

I stripped the audio out of the video and made a MP3 file so I could play along, or at least attempt to.  The C minor key is giving me fits as is the 12/8 time.  Not used to counting that way!

Can you share the mp3?

Playing orchestral music without backing makes me feel like im talking to the voices in my head. So i stopped work on this untill i get the backtrack.

I should add--  This is the Albert Chang cover version, not the show version.

I just need to take the time to put the other parts in Finale. At that point the Viola parts will be a piece of cake Ripton.
We are in the process of buying a new building for Fiddlershop and Holstein Violins. This is also draining my time.
We'll be closing on the 31st and moving next month. :)

fiddlerman, I hope your store opening/move goes well, that is a big undertaking.  In the mean time we have lots to practice.

@djroger: thank you for making the audio file. I have just been practicing along with the Albert Chang video, that works also. (and it makes me want to do our filming outside in a forest somewhere!).

I thought about shooting outdoors, too.  Just concerned about picking up other noises.  I suppose birds or crickets would be OK, provided they chirp in tempo.........

Jet traffic or loud cars would be another thing.  Wondering how many takes it would need (beyond the mistakes I would make requiring another take)!

It's all about where you do it. I love to play outdoors. Just seldom have recording device with me. Will try to change that as the season progresses. I am in the mountains so there are very few "unnatural" or man made sounds to contend with.

The worst that will happen is a retake. I did many upon many for a previous project.

I still like the outdoors idea!  I have a cousin that is a professional camera-man...........As in motion pictures.  Maybe I can talk him into shooting the video and editing if he is not too busy.  I know he just got another new pro camcorder that makes my toy $100 one look like, well, a toy!

I'd also thought about using my electric instead of the acoustic and plugging the output direct into the camera.  Might look out of place if I dress the period part though.........wink

I've got to get to practicing this, my regular homework tunes have been taking up my time, lol.

I like the idea of doing an outdoor video.... the wooded park near me does sadly have an airport right by it, so you do get the ground noise from the jets, on top of them flying overhead. If I were better at my video skills and playing skills, I'd do a "clean" recording at home to add on top of the outdoor video, but I don't see that happening, lol.

I have ZERO grandiose ideas that i will be participating in this, but I downloaded MP3- and will practice playing along, instead of trying to read and play.  This is really a beautiful piece, but I will settle (because I am a settler) for listening to it, being inspired, and trying !!!   :)

THANKS !

I swear- someday I will be playing as well as my imagination
