........This is the first time I recorded myself playing, and the recording sounds more awful than it does when I hear myself while playing!

Cool, not awful at all, thanks for the post - and - that feeling NEVER leaves you - you will always find something when listening back to your own work that says to you "oh, I could have done that better / differently" etc etc...  that's what drives us all !!!  Well done ! thumbs-upthumbs-up

@Fidelestre

Congrats on posting to the Party.

Good JOB!!!!  I found nothing wrong with your songs! (we always hear it back on the harsh side) but like BillG said... it keeps us striving for better.

Good job and keep posting.

You posted first!!!!!  Happy Summer Party!!

and There is kind of a 3-4 year song that I should be able to play.. like a "big girl" song.. :)

I am excited to hear everyone.

I've been working on O' God Beyond all praising for months now. I made a few recordings, but I have a ways to go. Can I have a bag over my head in the video? Anyway, I'm setting my goal for next week, hopefully it will be bearable by then beg

Does the song/s on the list have to be note for note off the sheet (the way they're written) or is one's own version allowed. In other words improvisation. dunno

Cuz I don't play from sheet music. facepalm

@Fiddlestix - Ken my friend, I would imagine that improvising would be just fine - I mean that's what makes our performances individual and I assume sheet players will probably bring their own interpretations and ornamentation anyway.... but I would confirm with @coolpinkone, hard-taskmaster that she is ! Fidelestre, I literally hate watching and listening to myself play on video. That might be one of the things that hold me back from making more videos. By the same token, I learn more by listening to myself than when practicing.

Unfortunately I rarely practice before recording and I don't play over and over to get it right, but I otherwise never seem to find time, so I just do it.... A friend of mine once told me that the secret to success is to, "Do it now!"

The theory behind the "do it now" philosophy is that it will get done and, what is the worse that can happen? On the other side of the coin, we want to perfect some performances and you can only get so far without putting in the time, so ideally you want to do both. Obviously I put in the time when I was younger because I was aiming for a career. Here on the forum, we accept people just the way we are and have no expectations whatsoever. Sometimes constructive criticism is given when not asked for but that can be corrected if needed. I think that any playing whatsoever is an achievement and you should be proud. After that, any improvements are positive. Aim for continual improvement no matter how small and you will get better. :)

I really got off topic on this one. LOL Sorry!

I think I see a Fiddlerman cleaning cloth quilt in Barry's future...

If I can figure out how to take and post a video I may get in on this. I no longer have a computer at home, so I need to be creative in  my workarounds.

@Shane - I can't wait to hear you!!!  Bags are not needed.. giggle.. but if it makes you feel better.. or an audio.. :)  roflimage7011.jpg

@dionysia - Even an audio is fine for this.. some cell phones have a record function. :) I hope you get a chance to post.

@Fiddlestix as long as you pick a song from the list from the FM site of free music, you can play however your heart desires, and as many as you want, and whatever version you'd like. :)

(that goes to all)... Any song from the list of songs / etudes etc on the FM site.. any version you like.semiquaver-1214semiquaver-1214semiquaver-1214

@Barry yahoo... can't wait to see you in it to win it.... a cap to go with your special FM cloth garment.. LOLOLOLrofl

@BillyG  now for you.. LOL.. now for you... You have to play note for note, perfect pitch, and tempo.... ha ha ha ha..  You let the cat out of the bag regarding the FM CAP... I thought I'd be playing like Pierra and @Mad_Wed ... so that is your punishment.. LOLOLO.. Just kidding man.. roflrofl
