Fidelestre, I literally hate watching and listening to myself play on video. That might be one of the things that hold me back from making more videos. By the same token, I learn more by listening to myself than when practicing.

Unfortunately I rarely practice before recording and I don't play over and over to get it right, but I otherwise never seem to find time, so I just do it.... A friend of mine once told me that the secret to success is to, "Do it now!"

The theory behind the "do it now" philosophy is that it will get done and, what is the worse that can happen? On the other side of the coin, we want to perfect some performances and you can only get so far without putting in the time, so ideally you want to do both. Obviously I put in the time when I was younger because I was aiming for a career. Here on the forum, we accept people just the way we are and have no expectations whatsoever. Sometimes constructive criticism is given when not asked for but that can be corrected if needed. I think that any playing whatsoever is an achievement and you should be proud. After that, any improvements are positive. Aim for continual improvement no matter how small and you will get better.
