I didn't get back home until 8:30PM and logged in. I noticed that some people have a replay button but didn't see any fiddlers with that. How does that work? I really wanted to see you all play. 🙁

@Fiddlerman The replay button I think only works with JellyCaster (the non flashplayer broadcaster) and you have to opt in to doing the replay, it doesn't do it automatically. I think most of us shy away from doing the replay option.

Yep - great work everyone - thank you all - players and audience !

We seemed to have a few folks there chatting away who were not part of or "local group of friends" - maybe drawn to watch by the headlining of the event on SJ - that was great as well !

Yeah - and it is browser, and bandwidth, dependent [ the "Jellycaster" mode with replay button, I mean ].   I started out with the Jellycaster, but some viewers were OK and some not, so I just went to the low bandwidth Flash broadcaster.   It works, but can be very dependent on your Flash player...

Anyway, bring on FiddleFest !!!!!

Between mowing hay and feeding sheep I was able to catch several of your performances. I must say, I was impressed with the self confidence shown by all. I'm not sure I would make it through!

When I signed up for streetjelly as a (prospective) performer I had to use something longer than my simple "Bob" name because it was too short. I added a few comments as "BobbyB". Still trying to get used to the chat interface.

If and when I get up the courage to expose my "fiddling" outside my house, I'd like to try to participate also 🙂

Thanks again for the performances.

Thanks for stopping in yesterday, @Bob 😀

@BillyG It seems broadcasting/viewing issues are becoming more common on streetjelly, I wonder why that is? I didn't notice it as much before the replay option, I wonder if that bogs down their site?

I wanted to try the Jellycaster yesterday, but didn't want to install another browser to do it, (I'm on a Mac with Safari) and on my log in anyway, the option that used to be there for Safari has a big red "discontinued" banner on it. Even though I don't like the idea of making my show a replay one, I was curious about trying it for the event.

It was so much fun! 😀 Im glad I got to attend! next time I'll prepare a bit better for fiddle fest so I have tunes to go for the entire 30 minuets. It was a lot more fun then I anticipated for sure!

@Bob It was a great time and as a first time street jelly-er I can say it was a bit nerve wracking to start but everyone there was so supportive that it ended up being so much fun! Even if you only want to try 5 minuets don't be afraid to! Id say just give it a go my first event I did on there was 5 minuets 😀 to test it all out and make sure I wasn't gonna totally flub infront of everyone.

@bob - any time you're ready, any time !   And thanks for stopping by !

@damfino - yes - I just can't quite get a handle on this at all - for two of the shows the video and audio was all broken up with huge ( like many 10s of seconds ) hesitations / drop-outs ( it's not like it restarted from where it stopped ).   All the other shows were fine.

The two that gave me trouble were @OldOgre and @JazzyFiddle - after a few minutes with broken video and audio, I just went to "Audio only" - and that was absolutely fine...   I have NO idea why that happens....   I mean, I know my internet is not great, but, I opened another window (while OO was on, with the video sticking, and went to another performer who was online - it was 100% perfect....   so I seemed to have plenty bandwidth - beats me! )

As for browsers and Flash - I'm up to date with flash, and it has always worked before on Chrome - now - I can run a test OK, but, when it comes to broadcast, it cannot find any sources either for cam or mic, no matter what I do....  I mean, the test mode itself IS effectively broadcast ( out to the SJ server and back ).  Anyway, I got it (flash broadcast mode) running in Firefox and in IE.

Nightmare Street !!! LOL

When it works, it's great - I just wish I could understand what causes these "localised" issues - I mean - how come one "sticks" but, at thevery same time I can stream in someone else ???    It's maybe network congestion somewhere along the line on the outbound stream from the SJ server, perhaps logging off, letting the end to end connection die, and re-logging in it may then come in via a different network path....  dunno  I'll try that the next time it happens....

@BillyG  I understand the frustration. I had to quickly download firefox during one presentation because safari wasn't liking to play the videos quite right. and I ended up playing my show through fire fox too just to be safe.   I wonder if their systems get lagged with all the different types of broadcasting they do now. I know they even have a "professional/corperate" option that allows all sorts of things like replays and such.

It's an awesome platform when everything works right! 😀 I think we should let Streetjelly know too. since we all seemed to have issues at one point or another. maybe it'll alert them to some issue in their systems.

did some digging for the replay button. That particular feature is only available to the "premium" accounts. If I remember right you have to pay for those accounts 🙁 and It was saying HD video so you'd probably need better equipment and bandwidth on the internet to use it correctly.

Edit: It's not a paid account....this is what street jelly says.... How do I get Premium Features?
Premium Features are by invitation only at the moment. It starts by having an artist account with a full bio description, a quality uploaded profile picture, and links to your other social media webpages. Go to My Account → Edit My Profile to keep your profile page up to date. Access to Premium Features also takes successful performances performed on StreetJelly. Think of every show you perform as an audition to reach and grow to the next level. Getting access to the Premium Features is not automatic, so feel free to Contact Us if you think we may have over looked your talent.

I had a great time, it was fun to see all the people there.

I was forced to use Jellycaster, which might be the cause of the breakup. For some reason my flashplayer would not work at all with SJ.

With violins there is no fretting over the music.

Every time I started a show, I had to go into my Safari settings and choose to "reload page with flash" even though I already have OK'd flash to always run on StreetJelly. So I kind of think the flash issue might be a streetjelly setting issue, and not flash, since it happens across the board on different browsers? For some reason SJ set up only wants to play nice with Firefox.

Hello everyone.. all my thanks for a wonderful time.   I am so rusty but I felt among friends and had a good time.

Good time playing and watching.  Everyone was wonderful.  I was able to hear everyone with little issue.

My issue is camera and mic that makes it sound like I am playing some Harpischord (sp?)  🙂

Regardless... I had a full on blast with the Amateur hour.

It was fun indeed @OldOgre - and great to see and hear yah live for the first time for me - although as I say I eventually had to go to audio only.   Well done mate, hats_offI know you were struggling a bit, but trust me, we recognized the tunes !

Glad you had a good time, both watching and playing !  thumbs-up

All hiccups aside, it was a great day, and I'm glad everyone joined in to play 😀

@OldOgre Thanks for your show, you did great 😀 thumbs-up

@coolpinkone It was a great time!!!! Glad you ended up feeling well enough to do your show 🙂

I think us fiddlers know how to have the most fun on StreeJelly, when we do an event, we do it right 🙂

I had the worst time! I caught the end of the first show then BillyG's beginning! When he switched to the flash one, I started having major issues! Apple will not allow flash on its iPhones, which is just stupid! So I got Puffin which played to a degree! It locked up regularly and I would get a frozen Billy or a black screen, or even worse, I would get a negative of Billy in stuttering motion! I did get enough of Billy to say "BRAVO"!! I thought you did a great job! I loved the Scottish folk tunes (jigs/reels?) I am of Irish/English descent via Canada, but we have inlaw relatives all over Canada 🇨🇦 and the United States 🇺🇸 with Scottish last names (and we have a terrible time trying to get people to accept that Scotch is a drink 🥃 NOT the synonym of Scottish) the Italians have have the same trouble here with people pronouncing the I as  in "it". That drives me crazy too! What can I say, my aunt was an English teacher.

At any rate, my internet is through AT&T, via my iPhone so, it is not good and it is limited. I decided my experience was bad enough to give up on being an observer though I HAD intended to watch Damfino perform! I got too busy and missed it totally! 😞

Awww @Cearbhael  - I just don't really know why for some folks it's fine, and for others, it is rubbish.  Other folks saw OldOgre and Jasmine fine - but with them, I had exactly what you describe- there is a little check-box at the top right of the video, to select "Audio only" - I know - it takes away the fun of seeing crazy fiddlers leaping around, but at least the audio stream seems to be unbroken !!!!

Thank you - glad you enjoyed my fiddlin' foolishness !   All good fun, that's all (and everything at the same time) it is to me !!!!

Aw, I'm sorry you had so much trouble. I think Toni @coolpinkone has somehow listened in on her ipad, but I'm not sure how she's done it.

Maybe through playing around on Strings on Sunday we'll figure out what the new hiccups are. I really don't remember so many issues earlier this year.
