Hello!

My name is Valeria and this is the first time I post, here or anywhere else really... So I hope I'm doing this right and I apologize in advance if I'm not

I have been going through the forum's topics and have conflicted feelings, on one side I am happy to have found such an awesome source of information and a platform to discuss topics with people who actually know a thing or two about violins; on the other hand I am now more than a little anxious, here's why....

So I am a complete and total newbie, I just started taking violin lessons a couple months ago and I'm loving it so far. I am having trouble with my so called violin which was purchased through our version (mexico) of Craigslist and well... it is bright green and shinny and basically a toy that while it's a lot of fun it is not really any good for anything other than messing around... sooo I decided to get an actual violin.

Now problem is there are literally NO decent violin shops or even music shops where I live so I was stuck with buying online and so after doing some research I went ahead and purchased an Antonio Giuliani from Kennedy Violins which is currently on its way...... this was before I found this forum and after reading through all the posts I could find that mention these guys, well... I'm more than a little worried.......... D=

I don't suppose any of you out there that happen to have one of these violins or at least played one at some point could put my mind at ease? or just give me the hard truth if my worries are justified?

Ok this is too long a post... Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read through my ramblings!! =)

Congratulations on starting the journey, Valerie and welcome to the forum.

You should probably check, Kennedy's return policy. I've not played any violins from that source nor purchased anything, but they do seem reputable.

Which model of the Antonio Giuliani did you get, they appear to be nice outfits.

In any case, good luck with it, you'll enjoy your time playing.

I have an Antonio Giuliani from Kennedy and it's a great beginner violin. I had no problems at all dealing with them.

Let the bow flow.

Thank you Ken!

Well they do have a 45 day moneyback return policy so that makes it a wee bit less stressfull lol here's to hoping all those reviews are the real deal and I end up with a violin I like.

Hmmm I got the "Antonio Giuliani Violin Outfit" which is supposed to include a nicer bow; that's all it says... I think the other one's the "Etude" which is the cheaper version?

I'll try to report back after I receive it, until then... fingers crossed! =)

It can be pretty nerve racking to buy musical instruments online.  However, as you've noted Kennedy does have a good return policy and that's one of the most important things to look for.   I'll bet it will be fine, but if not, then just return it.

Welcome to the forum Valeria,

I wouldn't worry too much about the Antonio Giuliani Violin Outfit as you now know that you have that return policy just in case. If you don't like the sound or it's playability, don't hesitate to return it because it will bug you until you get rid of it otherwise. Your teacher should be able to help you with the evaluation of the instrument in case you are not sure.

Happy to have you here. Look forward to your updates.

@valeriadelagarza

How wonderful to meet you.   Congratulations on your new violin.

I bet you can't wait.   Looks like you should have a sigh of relief because of the return policy.   :)

I can't wait to hear more of your violin's arrival.  WE LOVE LOVE LOVE  LOVE new violin pictures and updates... We like all the details... from stalking the tracking number to hunting down the UPS truck.    My last violin delivery.. well the postman almost had me throw my arms around him... (kidding.. actually NOT kidding).. LOL

Oh dear, you people are all so nice!

Thank you for your comments, I am actually breathing a little easier after checking the return policy @coolpinkone =)

And I'm really glad to hear you had no troule with your Giuliani @fiddle chick

I haven't gotten it yet what with international shipping and all that but I'll make sure I post an update once I do, with pictures if I can figure out how to upload those too =)

Again, thanks y'all!

Sooo I don't know that anyone is really interested but I'm posting this anyway in case someone else finds themselves looking for info regarding the violin I got =)

I was finally able to drive up to Txs (where I had it delivered) to pick it up and I was pleasently surprised, the case is very pretty and the violin itself is quite nice as well, Like stated when I started this thread I am a total newbie so all I know is that it is very beautiful, I am going through a bit of an adjustment period since it feels quite different from my original green toy violin... the bow is very light also when compared to my previous one sooo I haven't gotten a hang of it yet.

I did take it with me to my lesson yesterday and my teacher seemed to like it. She said it is waaay waaaay better from the green one and advised me not to return it as it sounds quite good (at least when she played it lol)

So thank y'all again! I'm happy to report that I will be keeping my Antonio Giuliani =)
