Terry, your Uncle Benny would be the best uncle EVER; he'd always fix you up with chicks & you'd get a good a$$ grab whether you needed one or not, lmao.  Benny was my favorite program as a teen.

Curve ball away!!! afro

I'm not very surprised, really, but my disappointment meter gets pegged out every time I see in these posts tasteless innuendo and vulgar acronyms or initialisms; which gives I think just cause for moderate disapprobation..

Sets the civilized world back to the 50s....facepalm  the 1850s! Don't you think?

Thanks Joe, you are correct and we consider ourselves lucky that we have you to remind us and keep us within the bounds of 21st century civility.

It won't happen again.

Until the next time LOL!

But wait, Terryt, I appreciate your kindness, however, you extend credit where credit is not due....I'm simply  following in the austere footsteps of one ftufc who with teeth nashing California style lead the way to secure for our readership a relatively benign forum; he justly criticised the rugged debate style utilized by several forum members.

Not only do I applaud his leadership, but I support and add energy to the momentum his monumental movement has assumed.....cheers...dancinbunny

Thanks Pierre, those pics are great; I never got to see it as an observer!

ROLFLMAO NV!!!!!!!!  Yes, it's made for manly men, haaaaaa.  Remember, this is the first prototype, I've taken about 30% of the mass off (without losing any of the style) and the new pad is thicker & more comfortable.

Does FM realise he has the dogs b....cks on his shoulder?

Looks great though. How about a profile match to the perons shoulder. How hard would that be? Kind of custom made!

Terry, that's my exact intent, that's why I consider it "semi-custom".  The player picks his/her "height/weight/sex/frame/shoulder slope" all from drop downs, as well as finish "maple/mahogany[reddish]/ebony[stained black]/dark brown"; it makes all the difference in the world as far as fit is concerned.

Thanks for helping me think this through.  For NV, I'd try to make one out of gossamer, so that it felt lighter than a feather on her shoulder.  I just don't know where to buy gossamer, lol.

That's really cool FM. Thanks for those photos. I really like my Mach One but want to buy one of those from Fred cause I love supporting musicians and creative artists. I have had many women's high heals on my shoulders so I think I could get used to that shoulder rest ;-)

Scott, you're a bad, bad man, haaaaaaaaa!

Thanks for your support Scott, when I see you next week we can discuss details.

Actually, I'll tell you briefly about the business aspect of this project.  I developed the design out of necessity, but my 18 yr old son who's just starting his first year of college is dying to run with this as a business while going to school.  He's been looking for something that he can manage and create and he LOVES this concept.  And most importantly, he loves carving these and he makes them even better than I do.  So if this actually gets off the ground, it will be his business.

A novelty I'm sure.....like a pet rock.  Unless the user is a paraplegic with a foot fetish, I just don't see any practical application....its like wearing a shoulder holster for a Mac 10 machine gun.

I agree that the construction is somewhat useful and might yield a few BTUs in the fireplace, but I see no real benefit to wearing a giant shoe horn over my shoulder.  This slab of ski slope might through resonance coupling reduce or distort sound coming from the violin back.

I hope the contriver makes a gazillion dollars, however, unless Playboy's Woodsex magazine is hard up for a centerfold image, I'm afraid this goose wont lay the golden fiddle.

Perhaps he could design a combination violin case/surf board, now that's something a california musician might need!

@ Fred... Great idea, but a few question's for you.

How much do you figure these shoulder rest's will retail for?

Are they completely hand made? or...

Are you using a "CAD" program with a C&C machine, which will allow you to custom fit different shape's and size's for the individual user?

Ebony (stained black) real ebony need's no black stain or paint.
